“Fishing village quirky”
Reviewed April 3, 2014 via mobile

This town has loads of character. We expected the Slipway to be quirky, but found it to be better than expected. Great view out over the harbour, small bathrooms but modern. Loads of history and character here. Besides the Slipway there is plenty of choice for dinner in Port Isaac. We went to the Motehouse for dinner which has the best ever caramel fudge creme brulee.

Breakfast at Slipway was great, staff attentive. You can drive down to unload but need to park up top. If you use the car park up top, bring coins as there is no card facility or change machine.

The owners of this historic (1527) building have done a nice job of creating a pleasant bar, dining area and cozy hotel rooms upstairs. The location can't be beat - right across from Mrs. Tishell's Chemist Shop (Buttermilk Fudge) and steps away from the landing. We especially appreciated the friendly service by Rachel and Sue! The full breakfast was excellent, the Wi-Fi worked and the bed was very comfortable. We were glad for staying here in this wonderful little fishing village!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 11 - the loft. It was cozy and had a wonderful view of the harbor. Not recommend...

Stopped here on a lovely sunny day and was very pleased with first impression of hotel. Loved having a side door entrance to hotel. Parking is at the top of the hill which is no problem as it's a lovely work back past all the well known places from Doc Martin. On a wet day this would be a bit of a problem but this applies to most accommodation in the town. My room number 4 had a nice view of sea. Dinner in the evening was very nice and well priced. Breakfast was very good and quality of ingredients very high.

We're in Port Isaac and naturally mostly eating fish and crab, but it was nice to have a steak for a change of pace. Well cooked, nicely presented. Such an historic place too. This is a review for the restaurant, we didn't stay in the hotel.

We spent one night here in September 2013, drank at the bar, dined in the restaurant, and slept in a comfortable room.

The drinks were great, the food and restaurant service was excellent and the room very comfortable.

Mark, the host, was very congenial and enormously helpful in assisting us with information on where to find good food and accommodation elsewhere as we progressed with our holiday. We also stayed at his sister establishment, The Mill House, near Tintagel the next night.

We have just made a spontaneous decision to return to England for New Years eve and will do our best to manage one night here on that trip.

I heartily recommend The Slipway.

Room Tip: Just any room is worthwhile.

Just came back from weekend break. The staff were wonderful, food was great, rooms were small but the pillows were all dreadful! They all needed replacing as they were flat & hard. They couldn't find any replacements from the unoccupied room so they must all be the same. I suggest if you are planning to stay to take your own.

We originally booked for two nights but having seen the state of the (lifeboat suite") we only stayed one night. The carpets were stained, cobwebs everywhere, dirty window sills and paintwork. The toilet seat was hanging off,the bathroom door would not close, let alone lock, small four foot six bed so close to the wall and a beam you needed to be an athlete to get in and out of bed.One tv didn't work and the other had a remote with no batteries.Breakfast good and Nathan Outlaw next door excellent!

Room Tip: don't stay here-it's dirty
