Stayed here last week for two nights over New Year, the positives are the staff are friendly and helpful and the food was excellent particularly the New Years eve dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed. The downside is that the hotel is looking quite shabby now and definitely needs money spent on it, the stair carpet in particular is going threadbare and the curtains in our bedroom were very scruffy with the lining hanging below the curtains, not quite what I expect for the price we paid. The bathroom as has been stated before on other reviews is tiny but very clean however you had to be very careful when stepping out of the shower not to burn yourself on the very hot towel rail situated right next to it. We were unfortunate enough to have very noisy young teenagers ( unsupervised ) staying in the family room above us who had no consideration for other guests and thought it was ok to run up and down the stairs between the rooms and bang doors late in the night, also we were woken up at 5am by someone trying to get into the room opposite !! This sadly did not make for a restful stay and despite the positives I do not think we will be staying there again.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms on the front are great for the views but quieter rooms are at the back.

We stayed here with a Groupon voucher. It's a nice hotel, welcoming with a nice breakfast in the morning. We paid a bit extra for a seaview room but actually preferred the room at the back of the hotel. Will be going back again if they do another voucher. Prob would not pay the full price for no parking etc. Nice though and a lovely base out of season

Despite the weather being bitterly cold, the Slipway Hotel staff gave us a very warm welcome. All staff were efficient and friendly. The food was fantastic and our room (the Lifeboat Suite) was cosy, immaculately clean and finished to a high standard. Perfect views across the small harbour.

Have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Slipway, definately would book again. very helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. our room was very clean and comfortable, tea and coffee restocked every day. the choice at breakfast was extensive and the quality of the food was amazing, ate there first night and it was wonderful but decided to try somewhere different the 2nd night no reflection on the food or the staff. downside was having to park at the top of the hill but after such a huge breakfast the walk helped!! was really glad we paid the extra for the harbour view, well worth it. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Room Tip: pay the extra for an harbour view

Just got back from a 2 night stay at the Slipway. Definitely exceeded our expectations. Fantastic staff, welcoming when we arrived and friendly & helpful for the rest of our stay. Room clean & comfortable. Had everything we needed. Only downside was that we were not in the main hotel so had to go outside & round the corner to our room. Luckily it didn't rain!
Breakfast was amazing! Choice of full English, smoked salmon & scrambled egg, smoked haddock, kippers and more. Beautifully cooked.
Difficult having to park at top of hill as my husband can't walk that far but apart from that a great few days.
