“Nice, but there are better.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

We had an evening meal here only and did not stay.
Service was good and friendly. We had not booked but they found us a table.
Food was nice and could not complain. A bit pricey for what it was but you have to expect this on the harbour front and part of a tourist attraction. I don't know if I would go back as there were other places where the food was excellent rather than just good.

Three nights for the price of two was a good investment ! All facilities of a high standard considering the age of the building. Food at breakfast and dinner superb, `tho breakfast service left a bit to be desired. When breakfast doesn`t commence `till 8.30 am, all residents appear at the same time, which puts pressure on the 1 chef and 1 waitress, a 30min wait is unacceptable ???
Having said this, I would return !!

We enjoyed a four night stay in the lifeboat suite and ate at the restaurant for two nights. The accommodation was super, both tastefully furnished and clean. The view out to sea was simply amazing. The staff were very hospitable and made us feel most welcome. They were even good enough to recommend and book an alternative restaurant on the day we decided, for varieties sake, to eat elsewhere. On the subject of food, we found both breakfast and dinner to be excellent and enjoyed a lovely pint of the local Doombar beer to boot.

Three nights break mid September, first class location where accommodation was as expected within location and building where every inch is important. Bedrooms clean and tidy, staff very helpful and breakfast good. Excellent location for a few days to explore the area, walk and enjoy the village life.

Room Tip: Ask for room on first floor with balcony and see view.

This place could be a gem! The food is ok (bar food a bit basic though), but the seating area at the front is scruffy, dirty and pretty tired - this patio used to look so inviting 10 or so years back - I think that this place has just become too lazy and relies on the Doc Martin effect for its custom! Also, the bar area is terrible - great big TV, bright lighting and ORANGE pine - yuk! This bar area could be so much nicer!

Port Isaac is a pretty village made famous by the Doc Martin tv series. The Slipway Hotel was a great disappointment. The exterior is run down and the general standard of the interior is very poor. The entrance to the rooms is up a steep external staircase. The carpet at the entance was completely rotten. We had paid a premium for a room with a balcony. The balcony was so dirty that my wife cleaned the furniture with tissues before we could use it. The glass in the balcony doors was very dirty indeed and could not have been cleaned in a long time. The bathroom was so small that it felt like a cupboard and the door did not close properly. The extractor fan was filthy and did not work. The room was so small that I had to turn sideways to pass beteen the end of the bed and the chest of drawers and I am tall but not fat!
The food was all right but not outstanding but the staff were pleasant.
I could not recommend this hotel. It is very shabby and does not give value for money.

Room Tip: Try somewhere else!
