“Relaxation”

A friend recommended this cottage, so looked it up and booked it, and we are so glad she shared this gem with us!
We had been warned it was right on the slipway and next to a restaurant, so we where prepared. Driving through the narrow roads was a worry the first time, however once you arrive you and rewarded with the most fantastic location.
The cottage is an old fishermans cottage, so the rooms are small, lots of uneven floors, but its the character of the cottage. Will be honest, the cottage does need a really good clean, and instructions for the washing machine would be useful!
We where lucky to see Doc Martin being filmed, right outside the cottage door, we had a best view of all. The main double bedroom could do with a new matress and duvet, both very lumpy. As we stayed during the heatwave, alot of people outside drinking and cooking on the beach, so the noise did get louder, but we managed to sleep well. Car parking at the top of the village in car park, paid for a weeks parking. Fab walks from the cottage also. Everybody very friendly, will be looking to stay again. A real get away from it all cottage. Just remember to take towels with you, and try and do you shopping in one go!

“A wonderful cottage in a beautiful part of Cornwall”
Reviewed September 3, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We recently returned from our first trip to Cornwall and to Port Isaac. The cottage couldn't have been more perfect, with its position and wonderful views over the harbour. I would really recommend the cottage especially when Fishermen's Friends are performing right outside the window! We found everyone to be so friendly and welcoming to us.

As said by other reviewers car parking is unfortunately at the top of the hill but this gave us a good exercise each morning.

“A Place that will always be very special to us.”

We stayed for a week from 21st May 2011 and took our 2 dogs with us. Firstly, the position of the cottage could not be better, right in the heart of the village and had no mobile reception so we had a real chilled week away. This cottage sleeps 7 but in truth would only sit 4-5 comfortably in the lounge. It was well equipped and we just fell in love with the quirkiness of this cottage and if we won the lottery would offer to buy it. One negative was that it advertised having a freezer which it didn`t, only a freezer compartment in the fridge which was badly in need of defrosting. However the caretaker kindly allowed us to use a couple of drawers of their freezer which was a big help. The cottage is on 3 levels and we had the bedroom at the top and it was wonderful lying in bed listening to the waves. The views from all the windows were fantastic. There is a friendly seagull called Cyril who is sat near the kitchen window to greet you which was lovely. There were only a couple of small gripes which did not spoil our holiday at all. Some cleaning left a lot to be desired, dirty cupboards and hair in the bathroom and at least 3 stains on the hall carpets where pets had had accidents and we were affraid our dogs would be blamed. Apart from that everything else was excellent. A word of caution to anyone thinking of going, if you have limited mobility this cottage is not for you. There is no parking in the village and we had to park our car in a public car park on the edge of the next village which we had to pay for daily and it was an extremely steep climb all the way there - not so bad coming back!! You need to be prepared to walk everywhere and by the end of the week we felt fitter but the first few days were a killer on the legs! The icing on the cake was Doc Martin was filming whilst we were there (after all, it was because of that show we wanted to go) and I got to meet the Doc himself and have the photo to proof it. I was so chuffed it is my prized possession and sitting proudly on our coffee table. Unfortunately the weather was not good, very blustery, raining and miserable but we had no control of that. Would I recommend this cottage to others - absolutely, would we go back - in a heart beat. I do not want to show any negativity for Tides Reach because it was one of our most enjoyable holidays ever and we have been all over the world and we actually wore our dogs out with all the walking!!! Hopefully we will go again and the weather will be kinder.

“An ideal retreat to recharge your batteries”

Port Issac is an absolutely gorgeous little village with breath taking scenery,it has great costal walks with wonderful views although its very hilly the sights more than make up for it when you reach the tops.
To top the whole holiday off is the idyllic and very beautiful cottage you get to stay in,Tides Reach is a perfect place to recharge your batteries, its clean and welcoming the views from every window are amazing and you wake up to the sound of the waves what more could you want. Its not ideal for teenagers as the pace of the village is too slow but as a relaxing chill out holiday its perfect.
Tides Reach is also in the ideal spot being next door to the pub where on a thursday we had the pleasure of the Brass Band playing outside the window and on the friday we had the very talented Fisherman's Friends on the harbour right under the bedroom window so we had the best seats in the house without even having to leave the cottage, wonderful.
