We stayed in Polperro for 4 nights and had a wonderful friendly welcome from this very dog friendly hotel, even when the dog if a big black bear (Newfoundland)!!! Everything was perfect and what a lovely fishing village, everywhere is pet friendly, great pubs and fabulous area.

Chris and Anna could not do more for us, informative, loads of suggestions of where we could go, such fabulous breakfasts we had to have a full English each morning!!!!

My partner and I had an excellent stay of four nights at Penryn House, guests of the friendly and welcoming Anna. Our room was at the top, and what it lacked in headroom at one side it more than made up for in the views from the windows - part of the village with wooded slope above, and the trees on the valley side above the bathroom. Just a five minute walk brought us to Polperro's ancient village centre clustered around the extremely picturesque harbour and with its great choice of restaurants, pubs and shops and very interesting museum. It is a wonderful centre for unforgettable walks along the coastal paths towards Looe one way and Lansallos and Fowey (via the ferry at Polruan) the other - we left our car in the hotel carpark and made use of the friendly bus services. The hotel is well appointed, serving delicious breakfasts with a big choice of alternatives (we particularly recommend the smoked salmon with scrambled egg, and the smoked haddock with poached egg), and there is a bar with a comfortable seating area. Our final evening was spent at 'The Kitchen', opposite the hotel, recommended by Anna and separately reviewed by us, and where we became engaged!

We spent 3 nights here in a twin bedded room. It was a bit of a last minute booking and the doubles were fully booked. The room was extremely well appointed and compact. A nice touch was the replacement of bottled water each day - especially as it was very hot! Some B&Bs confine the water to the first night only. The shower sputtered a bit but was adequate.

The hot breakfast was cooked to order and perfection with plenty of choice. We always try and pick somewhere with parking and Penryn House has enough spaces.

Polperro is very pretty with plenty of pubs and restaurants and we used it as a base for visits to Fowey and the Eden Project.

My husband and I had a lovely night here. The proprietors did everything possible to make our stay most enjoyable.Ample parking which is very precious in some small villages.Clean and comfortable rooms. An excellent breakfast what more could you ask for.We had a nice early morning walk around the harbour to take photographs. It is just perfect.

The welcome at Penryn was warm and check in was easy. We had requested an early check in as the Polperro music festival started on the day of our arrival. This was happily accommodated. The room was clean and well presented and whilst not huge was functional. The bathroom was clean and tidy and again, well presented.

Breakfast is excellent and the hot elements cooked to order. The quality is very high and the portion sizes set you up nicely for the day.

Car parking can be a challenge at Penryn, but if you follow the clear instructions and are able to drive in a semi-competent manner – you’ll be OK.

Noise can travel in the hotel as the rooms are very close together, however my wife and I had no problems sleeping and the hotel does not seem to be beset by late night revellers.

My only criticism of the hotel is that breakfast is only served between 8:30am and 9:30am. Whilst I can understand that the owners want to get on with other things, this does tend to restrict early starts and/or lie ins if you still want to have breakfast.

We found the room a little on the small side, but the bed was comfortable, with plenty of hot water in the shower. Breakfast good, but the small quantity of fresh fruit on the buffet seemed insufficient for sixteen guests all dining at the same time. We believe this was topped up frequently, but initially, upon seeing only a cereal-sized bowl of cut fruit on offer made us hold back, feeling that we could not take too much. With fresh fruit for breakfast being more important to us personally than a cooked meal, it fell down a little there. However, the berry compote was delicious.

My partner and I had a couple of days in Polperro while doing a whirlwind tour of Cornwall. We happened upon this lovely hotel by chance as we had intended only staying in Polperro a few hours, However, we noticed the 'pets welcome' sign and the the fact we could park there was an incentive to call in and book. We decided to stay for two nights and I have to say, the hotel was great. The bed was really large and comfy - a bit of a squeeze in a small room but well worth it for a really good nights sleep - not always easy in strange beds and the shower was always lovely and hot. Everywhere was spotlessly clean.Breakfast was good with lots of choice and a stone's throw from the centre of the village. The only thing we did notice was that the voices of two elderly ladies in the next door room carried quite a bit at 6.00am but then again not everyone tends to chat at this time of the morning! We will definitely be returning to this lovely friendly hotel.
