“one of Polperro's most iconic buildings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2011

Polperro is one of Cornwall's most iconic fishing villages. House on the Props is one of Polperro's most iconic buildings. 17th century?
Our double room was extremely small (not surprising given the nature of the accommodation) - might have been a problem on an extended trip.
Good little patisserie and restaurant downstairs,

We spent 11 days at the "Props", with our dog Max , and enjoyed every minute ! What a beautiful setting right on the harbour in Polperro . Of course with a building of this age you have to expect small rooms and wonky floors , but it all adds to the character of such a lovely old place !
Steve & Mandy are brilliant hosts , nothing is too much trouble for them , we can't thank them enough . The only downside to our stay was having to leave the car in the carpark at the top of the village , and no grass for Max .

A very interesting old building right by the harbour - a lovely location. We had a smallish room but it was good enough for a short stay; certainly good enough for an overnight stay while doing the Coastal Path. Breakfast was just OK - nothing special. Lots of good places to eat in the evening.

Stayed in Polperro and dined at The House On The Props twice. Great service, food, wine list and welcome. The macaroons are scrummy. I will go again later in the year and I would stay its a great location.

Have said it all in my previous review. This time we stayed in The Props Room - very comfortable again even though it's like sleeping on board ship as the room leans down towards the river/stream and pretty noisy when the tide is going out but beautifully peaceful when the tide is in. A delightful pleasure to wake up to that view of the harbour in the morning - The House on Props is the only B&B with this view except for The Watchers which has an outer harbour view and is much further to walk up The Warren, but we have never managed to stay there as they always seem to be fully booked when we ring.

For a change, decided on the 'Duke of Cornwall' breakfast in the morning - a huge plate of tasty smoked salmon and scrambled egg with a homemade ciabatta - gorgeous. Dined out the previous night at Nevilles (for old time's sake as we always used to on our holidays) but it was a shame that we didn't dine in The House on Props's own restaurant as the menu looked really good and they were obviously very busy which of course is always a good sign.

So thanks again Steve and Mandy - we'll probably be back next year if you can fit us in.

This is the perfect place to stay in Polperro. It sits right in the heart of the village and our room overlooked the harbour and we could watch the tide ebb and flo. The room was modern and cosy with everything we needed. We could lie on the bed, watch the TV or admire the view from two angles. En-suite bathroom was ideal, clean and modern. Both the room and the cafe were full of quirkly nautical features which we loved and it really reflects the character of Polperro.
Breakfast was lovely. Each morning we were served whatever we wanted - all fresh in a relaxed atmosphere. Our hosts were really friendly and provided lots of tips on where to go in the area. We were even able to borrow their OS map to help us find some great walks. Only downside was having to park far away but we're used to this staying in proper Cornish villages and the walk was good exercise!
Can highly recommend the Blue Peter for excellent evening meals and a great atompshere. We really enjoyed our two day stay in Polperro.

To add to the magical setting and town of Polperro, this quirky guest house sits right on the edge of the quay, and we were fortunate enough to have a double room overlooking the Roman Bridge. The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly, creating a lovely relaxed atmosphere for our stay. They even let us leave our bags in the room post check-out (at no extra cost) while we walked the coastal routes, since the room wasn't booked the following night.
The room was slighlty dated but comfortable, with a newly refurbished bathroom. There was a lovely little Cafetiere and fresh coffee among the drink facilities in the room, with fresh milk brought to us in a vacuum flask - now that's service!
Breakfast was so delicious and seemingly unlimited that you would need a coastal walk to work it off. My partner had a very generous and tasty full English, while I tucked into a variety of freshly made pastries - croissant, pain au raisin, etc - that were better than many I've eaten in France, and only 10 minutes out of the oven.
I would most definitely stay here again, and also recommend a visit to the tiny but very informative and interesting Polperro museum to the left of the guest house.
