“Terrible,The only good thing is the view!!!”
Reviewed February 27, 2014 via mobile

The only available Restaurant tables were covered in dirty plates, floor covered in food.Staff were just stood around chatting and made no attempt to clean tables. They could see us looking for somewhere suitable to sit and put our belongings before we went and ordered but made no effort to come and clear so we walked out.

“Too many uncleared tables”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

Just come back from a coffee in the Cafe in Sainsbury's - can't say I was impressed with the state of the seating area. It does have the advantage of a wonderful view over Mounts Bay and St. Michaels Mount - but that's where it ends.

We ordered a coffee and a cake each and went to find a table a CLEAN table that is. We wanted to sit by the window and in order to do so we had to clean all the dirty dishes and cups off the table and place them on another dirty table. Every table around us was covered in trays with dirty crockery. In the 25 minutes we sat there nobody came out to clear any of the dirty trays either.

There was a young women sat at a table next to us which was covered in dirty plates. She had a coffee and about 5 minuets later a waitress came over to bring her a hot tea cake. However she had to hand the cake to her as there was nowhere on the table to put it down. To my amazement she just walked away without offering to clear the dirty things away and nobody came back to do so either. The trolley where the staff stack the dirty trays was completely full when we arrived and still was when we left.

Moreover when we left not one table had been cleared since we arrived. In fact as we walked out I noticed a table that had a high chair at it and, while not the fault of staff, the whole of the floor under it was surrounded by food obviously scattered by the child. I found walking passed this and seeing all the dirty plates with dried on food very off putting. The place looked awful and to make it more unacceptable it even wasn't that busy.

Come on Sainsbury this is not good enough, whoever is in charge should get on top of this as it looks so awful. Surely the kitchen staff should be asking where are all the dirty dishes and why are they not coming back.

I can't complain about the counter staff and both of us did enjoy our coffee and cake but the state of the whole customer seating area was disgusting and as put me off going back.

This is a new Sainsburys in our area and should be trying to impress customers.

“Splendid first floor view”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

The only really positive comment that can be made ,it has a superb out door eating area suspended around the Cafe. This gives a great panorama of Mounts bay & St.Michaels mount.....well it would have been fine to try it out but apparently The keys had gone missing!!.

Service was slow by Sainsbury standards, took around thirty minutes for BF to arrive, odd as at one point there were more staff than customers. Considering this is a brand new site, they have made absolutely no effort to make this cafe enticing, has the look of a cross between a down market greasy spoon & an unfinished cowshed.....come on Sainsbury, you should do better than this, perhaps, you just dont care and cheap will do for your clients?.

English BF was good value at £4.30,but not enough to entice us back.
