“Lovely well equipped and beautifully situated apartment”
Reviewed September 23, 2017 for a stay in September 2017

As always with holidays on homeland the weather was not the element that made this a very nice relaxing week in a lovely part of the country. You see it really doesn't matter a jot if the weather is inclement if you have a beautiful apartment with stunning views over the harbour. We did get out and about we really enjoyed the Minnack Theatre it is well worth a visit. Unless you have children don't bother with Landsend it really isn't worth the £6 parking fee. Our memories of the holiday will most certainly revolve around the time we spent in the apartment enjoying the ever changing scenery inc several rainbows over the sea. Yes, all in all quite splendid.

“Fantastic Apartment Great views perfect location”
Reviewed March 13, 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Situated in a lovely position this apartment is perfect for the views of the harbour, the shops and bus/railway station are all in walking distance but not that close so that they are on your doorstep. Its a quiet peaceful area that I find very relaxing. The apartment offers all that you need for a perfect break, I have been twice now and plan to return later this year.

“Fabulous Apartment”
Reviewed August 8, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This Penthouse was beautifully presented. It is in an amazing position with truly awesome views. It is clean, well equipped, and the owners attention to detail is terrific. We had flowers, wine and milk waiting on arrival which was much appreciated. There's lots of information about what to do, where to eat, etc. It's close to good restaurants, good pubs, lovely walks, etc. A real treat and somewhere we would hope to visits again. The only thing to watch is the parking space which is fine for confident drivers but if your timid and have a car bigger than a VW Passat, you'll struggle.

Many thanks Caroline for your review of Ocean Blue. Yes, the parking is tight, I have a Mercedes Avant Garde and can get in there 9with wing mirrors in) but parking is at a premium in Penzance town of course and there is a huge car park opposite (pay) on the wharf plus (some) limited nearby on street parking. I am pleased you had such a lovely time and hope that you will return to this lovely part of Cornwall in the future.

“Ocean Blue lives up to its name and exceeds expectations”
Reviewed November 7, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Have just spent a wonderful week in the penthouse Ocean Blue (20) and we can say in all ways this holiday let has been much better than expected or hoped for. The finish and design of the apartment means that from the folding doors to the balcony which opens up the whole front of the lounge and the windows everywhere, the views are superb and the light airiness makes a spacious apartment seem even bigger. The en-suite and separate bathrooms are large and well finished and both bedrooms are big by modern standards, with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space each. There are even plentiful good quality hangers.
The apartment is modern, stylish and contemporary, and yet is in the midst of the old harbour and dock area of Penzance. It is an easy 5-10 min walk from the station (even with luggage) along the flat Wharf Road, and 2-3 mins from local shops and supermarkets such as Co-Op, Tesco Express, and Costcutter. Penzance has a greater choice of shops and good pubs etc. than you would imagine, so you will never go hungry within a short walk. We can recommend looking for the fresh fish shop on the corner of the Wharf at the station end … it’s open Mon-Fri and only on days when there is fresh fish landed at Newlyn – always a good sign. We had some fantastic mackerel.
Can’t really review the restaurants as we only tried the Fish & Chips shop once for a treat at lunchtime (the Fat Fish again on the wharf road towards the Station) and can recommend the fish which was lovely and fresh cooked to order with crispy light batter. With that and the many great pastie shops in Penzance, the balcony and facilities for cooking at the apartment are very convenient for al-fresco dining. The balcony faces the sun in the morning and until after lunch and it is a suntrap – even in November – so it was a pleasure to enjoy a light (or heavy) snack taking the view in.
If you crave a large weekly shop, then there are Sainburys, Morrisons & Tesco superstores about 1-2 miles away, with petrol stations at each. The large fridge and freezer in the apartment will hold a substantial amount for a week. The facilities in the apartment have been well thought out and as well as the normal, there are even cool bags to use to bring in supplies, and one with a picnic set in to take to the beach, and a large vacuum flask! There are also cocktail glasses and a shaker.
Sue, the thoughtful owner, makes you feel welcome with lovely treats, and the addition of a few store cupboard essentials.
The free Wi-Fi is very useful and you can get onto the internet via the Smart TV if you want to leave the laptop at home. There is also free use of a landline phone during BT inclusive periods. A blue ray player and numerous up to date DVDs, and books to read, mean you would never run out of things to do – but there is also lots to get to locally.
We took advantage of the great, uncharacteristic late autumn weather and explored the town of Penzance on foot for a few days and there is a lot to see. There was a beautiful outdoor pool (Jubilee Pool) in walking distance on the front, but it was damaged by storms in 2014 so is closed and under extensive repair… it would have been great if open, so I’d recommend checking it out. There is access over rocks to a sea bathing area behind the War Memorial next to the pool.
We also hired a car (small, a Fiat 500 which fitted into the available car park space very well) and went out to Lands End, The Eden Project, The Seal Sanctuary, and the Minack Theatre. Take care out of the main season to check as a lot of the attractions shut down or reduce opening days after 1st November. There is still plenty to do within the area. At the entrance to the apartment block, there is a slipway where we saw groups kayaking and paddle boarding from with instructors, so we are sure that this can be arranged locally.
Thank you Sue for all you have created and provide at Ocean Blue, and we’ll be back to enjoy more!

“Perfect!”
Reviewed May 3, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

The apartment was super clean, modern and bright, with a fabulous views of the Penzance harbor. It appeared to be brand new. The construction and finishes were top notch. It was well equipped and outfitted with top quality items, including the linens, dishes, working wifi, basic provisions (olive oil, salt and pepper, tea, sugar) etc. The beds were very comfortable. The balcony is quite small but comfortably held the 4 of us. The owner was super helpful and quickly answered all questions via email. The welcome gift of local foods was a nice touch. The location is perfect - a block from the harbor, a block from town center and the Food Coop, (the supermarket), 3 blocks from the train and bus station. We did not have car and it was no problem at all. We walked to Molehole, and St Michaels Mount, trained to St Ives, and bused to the telegraph museum and Geevors Mine. There are at least two excellent restaurants practically a stone's throw away. Two very minor minus: one of the sofas is very uncomfortable; and there was no electric coffee maker, but there was a french press and tea kettle, so we managed just fine.

“Luxury with views”

You would rent this apartment for the views alone. Sitting on the balcony or in the apartment the views of Penzance harbour and St. Michaels Mount are amazing and ever changing. But this is apartment gives you so much more than views.

The quality of the apartment is five star. It has been built to a high specification and the décor tasteful and comfortable, somewhere you are happy to come home to each day. It is a very grown up apartment perfect for a couple to have a romantic week away or a fun week with a couple of friends.

The added bonus is the location, there are plenty of good restaurants and pubs within walking distance and if you want to make use of the superb kitchen good access to shops, delicatessens and fish mongers.

Having been impressed with the owners previous apartment we were expecting great things, our week in Ocean Blue exceeded our expectations.
