“Service excellent, food poor.”
Reviewed May 17, 2014 via mobile

4 of us had an evening meal here. We all chose the mixed fish main course to share. The description on the menu sounded great - the reality was that virtually all the fish was covered in a thick batter so all tasted the same - batter. Wouldn't eat here again.
Service was excellent though!

“Must visit pub, if only to see the interior and have a drink”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

Honestly one of the most interestimg pub interiors i have ever been in (and I have been in a fair few!)
First visited here on a family holiday on 1984, always remembered and now revisited easter 2014. Just how I remembered it. Says something to have a pub stay in your mind for 30 years!
One of the finest pub interiors with an incredible array of maritime artifacts from ships past and old, shipwrecks... figureheards, decking, lights, you name it.
If you are a classical pub hunter, to enjoy historical settings,to enjoy the finest pubs in britain, then this must be visitied to your 'to do' list.
(sorry ive not reviewed food... i was 'here for the beer' !!! )
Penzance is a friendly town, so whether youre travelling on own or otherwise, you'll always feel comfortable and welcome. I intend to visit again very soon, despite living 400 miles away!

“suffered poorly tummy afterwards”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

we were a party of seven of which four of us had the same "daily special" of Thai fish curry. Three of us suffered similar tummy problems. Used to be OK now not worth the bother.

“A Really lovely meal in a delightfully quirky pub”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

We stumbled upon this lovely little pub during a recent stay in Penzance and it was a lucky find. Our meal was delicious and the service was second to none. Both the waitress and the landlord were extremely welcoming and helpful. Their Beef and Ale Pie is probably one of the very best I've ever tasted and I've had a few in my time!
