We should of known this would be an awful experience when we walked through the rear entrance past the stanna stairlift and tacky looking hairdressers, but as everywhere else was fully booked we had no choice other than to cough up the £140 room fee or kip in the car. On entering the room I was greeted by a strange damp smell and a brass four poster bed with filthy net material draped over it. Somebody had also kindly left little dark hairs over the pillows (luckily we didnt pay extra for these). As I waited for the hot water to kick in I attempted to take in the beautiful sea views but eventually gave up due to the windows being covered in dust, flies and cobwebs. After half an hour the water was warm enough to take a shower. The bathroom decor was cheap and the lino flooring was covered in stains. The whole room was thouroughly filthy and worse for wear even our nights sleep was continually disturbed by the creaking floorboards upstairs.
After having an unenjoyable buffet breakfast it was time to leave and looking back at the tired, run down and ridiculously overpriced hotel I came to the conclusion that i'd rather have slept in the car.

We spent four nights at the Queens, having booked fairly late on-line. Didn't expect much but were given a standard double room on the first floor with sea view. Room was very spacious, well equiped and had a pleasant decor. En-suite bathroom was equally spacious and comfortable.

The staff, without exception was very friendly and helpful and we never saw a sad face amongst them the whole time we were there.

There are some excellent restaurants around, Sophia's just along the road in the Folley, were it is excellent value to go for the earlybird menu, and the Itralian next door is also good, although it wouldn't hurt the staff to smile.

There are many good restaurants around but don't discount the hotel's own restaurant which is excellent.

The breakfast is to 'die for' with so many choices. We did have one hiccup on the Saturday morning when the hot buffet arrived 25 minutes late and was cold but the staff apologised and immeadiately took individual orders until the food was replaced.

All in all a very enjoyable experience.

I stayed at the hotel with my wife, Son with his wife and two young children and my grown up daughter, all our needs where catered for, its an ideal hotel to base yourself when you want to explore this part of Cornwall and if you are driving it has a very large car park where you are always able to find a place. My son and his family stayed in a family room and it was huge by all standards even the bathroom was huge, it reminded me more of a mini suite in a five star hotel, my room was what you would expect from a three star hotel. All the rooms we had where with sea views and this was a plus .

The Queens Hotel is beautfully located on promenade. The lobby and restaurant have fabulous views over the bay and Mount St Michael. The rooms were very roomy and cool. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Don't forget to try the Kedgeree for breakfast, its to die for.

Stayed here for 3 nights June/July 2009. The location was super and views from the dining room great. My room was right by a rear fire escape with no view, but then had bought it cheap on the internet. Very nice place to be alone though, I had a nightcap in the bar each evening and felt very comfortable with it. Breakfast was super, though different for coach parties, of which there seemed a few, than for the independent traveller. Restaurant appeared pricey but then so was everywhere else! Would recommend for single travellers or couples.
