This small hotel is up a very steep hill from Penzance, and if you don't drive prepare to be a) tired b) knocked down by pavement cyclists when you emerge from the side road. Once you're there it is worth it, however, with an excellent breakfast, free afternoon tea and a slightly limited selection of bar food and main meals. We liked the room though there were a few maintenance issues and really very limited storage space, including some diagonally angled shelves which you couldn't really see and consequently pulled out a handful of random clothes every morning. No chance to use the swimming pool as it was out of comission, but generally, a good stay...

Room Tip: Look for a room with adequate storage.

Recently returned from a 2 night stay at Hotel Penzance. What a beautiful hotel! My partner had booked the trip as a surprise, which was completely fabulous! Our sea view room overlooked St Michaels Mount and the bay. It was sumptuous, with a huge bed, luxurious bathroom and wine and water in the room. The staff were so helpful - I can't remember the last time on check-in when I've been shown to my room - and around my room! We didn't eat in the restaurant, however the afternoon tea in the drawing room looked delish! The hotel has a really good energy and feel to it. I would highly recommend Hotel Penzance if you're looking for somewhere special to stay in West Cornwall. Thanks especially to Peter, who was most helpful.

Room Tip: As for a room with a sea view - it's just stunning looking across the bay!

We have just spent an evening at the Penzance. We had a slight problem with our room which Peter dealt with straight away, moving us to a delightful room overlooking the harbour. The girls at the desk recommended the walk to Newlynn which we did in brilliant sunshine but missed the cocktails as that wasn’t mentioned unfortunately. Dinner was in the Bay restaurant which was very good indeed, highly recommend it. Breakfast was again in the Bay and that was great as well, lovely fresh haddock with poached eggs. I would defiantly stay there again.

Room Tip: You definatly want a seaview room if possible.

From the welcome upon arrival to the last afternoon tea we felt at home and comfortable at the Hotel Penzance. Unforunately we did not have a sea view room but the views from the restaurant and gardens made up for this. Of course having sunny and warm weather helped a lot but even if the weather is poor there are plenty of interesting books and games available in the lovely siry reception rooms. The pool was closed whilst we were there which was a shame.

Room Tip: I found the bed in the twin room a little too soft. The toiletries are amazing.
