A real gem of a hotel. Very friendly staff who know meaning of customer service. Very relaxing lounges. Free coffee and cakes in the afternoons. The Bay Restaraunt on site is truly outstanding. Best food I've had in years.

We took the overnight sleeper from Paddington and arrived at the hotel at just after 08.30. Thankfully (and luckily) a room was available for us at that time. The room was well appointed with a fantastic view of St Michael's Mount and the host (Peter) was just great. The afternoon Tea and Coffee was great and we met a lot of Scilly Isle residents who were visiting and were really chatty.
Service was great and we dined in the restaurant on the Saturday night. Food and wine were great (only down side was a slight forgetfulness about the canapés (not a problem but if you don't expect them, then get them offered and then they are not delivered, you notice!)).
Great Stay. Will comeback again and have already recommended to some friends.

Room tip: 16 was great

We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay in the Hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was a decent size. It was a sea view room, but a corner room and the windows were smallish there, but this was all that was was available when we booked, So didn't see what sort of view was available on other sea view rooms.

Cleaniness was generally good. The bathroom was a large bath with a shower fitting, but the shower fitting didn't work very well. A closer inspection of the bathroom tiles made me think the detail of the workmanship was a little below par, but that is perhaps being niggly. Possibly at £180 per night, apart from size the room felt a little travelodge in terms of the quality of the fittings. Again, couldn't really compare it against other rooms that are on offer. I was given a discount for referring to trip advisor as my reason for booking, so the average price came down, which was nice.

Food in the Bay restaraunt was good quality, and breakfasts were good.Nice touch to offer free afternon tea & cakes.

The website doesn't show the external appearance of the hotel, so it is important to note that this is not a big hotel. There are nice sitting areas for guests, and the small terraced areas of the gardens are nice but not extensive, if that is what you are expecting,

We were in good proximity for St Michael's mount and other tourist areas, and generally enjoyed our stay.

Stayed at this hotel on a kgb deal for 2 nights, great value. The room was lovely and had a fantastic view of the morning sun rising over the bay, harbour and St Michaels Mount (room 9) with a good free wifi connection. The breakfast was great and the restaurant was lovely. There were nice touches of free tea, coffee and cakes in one of the lounges each afternoon and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We traveled by train and the hotel is about 10 mins from the station but the last 50 or so yards are quite steep. Would definitely stay again if in the area, superior seaview rooms are well worth paying extra for.

Room tip: choose a superior seaview room, 9 was great being on the 1st floor

Booked this hotel for 3 nights as a special big birthday treat and chose it's location due to the significance of it being in the town where I was born. Having read the Trip Advisor reviews I was really looking forward to it. The reception area, lounges and restaurant were all very nicely appointed and lived up fully to my expectations as did the service from the friendly staff. Free tea, coffee and cake in the lounge was a nice touch. Car parking was a bit of an issue but that didn't really bother me. I did have to park a few roads away one night though. I booked a superior sea view double room as I wanted us to have the best on this special occasion. The room (No. 1) was nice and big with a large bed, although all the wallpaper was starting to peel and we had free unlimited internet access, which we did get on the second day when we were given the right code for it. The sea view was good but being on the ground floor was not as good, I would imagine, as those on the first floor. That was my first slight disappointment but not a big issue. The bathroom was an issue for me though. On the hotel website it quotes that all superior double rooms have a bath with shower over. Well this room doesn't. It is a wet room. I presume it is designed with disabled customers in mind and we were put in there because all the other superior rooms were booked. If the bathroom had been in good repair I wouldn't have minded but the flooring was bubbling up in the shower area where the water was getting underneath it. Basically it needed a refurb! Not quite what I expected from a 4* hotel. The hotel also quotes that superior rooms get fluffy velour bathrobes. Well ours were old flat towelling ones. What a shame that these small details had to spoil what would otherwise have been a pleasant stay!

Thank you for your review, and I've investigated all the issues raised. I'm sure you must realise that in common with all hotels, refurbishment and renewals are undertaken when required on an annual basis when occupancy levels allow. Room 1 [ground floor] is on schedule for a demolition and rebuild of its bathroom during the winter this year. It has had very heavy use all year and its non-slip flooring has become delaminated recently causing the damage you have photographed. We have been unable to gain access for the required work to be undertaken up until now as it has been fully booked by people who specifically requested level access.
You are quite right that the bathroom was remodeled into a wet room [9 years ago] to assist guests with mobility problems.
It might be worth bearing in mind that it is always preferable to book directly with our reception, who can then take full details of your preferences and expectations to ensure you have the most comfortable stay with us. As none of our rooms are identical we can be flexible to accommodate your expectations.

Our robes are 600gms velour outer and toweling inner, rope edged, superior quality ones, you will see photographs on our website, all are exactly the same age and quality.
