Currently number one on TripAdvisor for Penzance, this lovely B&B is located a short stroll through the park from the town centre. For public transport users, it is about 20 minutes on foot from the railway station.

It's easy to see why this place has such good reviews. Freeview television, free wifi, 'designer' toiletries, digital radio with iPhone dock and USB connector, DVDs to borrow (for free), books in the room and quite a large library to browse, freshly-ground coffee on request, a nice view of the park and above all, a friendly landlady and some of the finest breakfasts you'll find anywhere.

We stayed on the top floor (room 4). We didn't use the second room (which creates a family pair). The room was a touch on the small side (due to the sloping ceiling) and the television could have been bigger, but these are very minor points and the overall character of the building and high quality of supplies more than makes up for these.

I'd stay again just for the homemade bread and greengage jam.

Hopefully, the owners will buy the vacant property nearby and expand, so more people can enjoy this quality of service!

Room Tip: All the rooms should be lovely, but check if yours has a Saniflo toilet and treat it with the respec...

We stayed at the Venton Vean in mid September 2013 and could not be happier with our stay. After leaving it a little late to book anywhere we were very lucky that that morning there had been a cancellation for the exact dates and room we needed. It was quite easy to find and although there is no car park there was an abundance of parking on the road and most nights we managed to park directly outside the gate. For those worried about parking on the road, don't . The road is very quiet and in a nice area with the B&B directly in front of the park entrance. The location was perfect with just a short walk through the pretty park to the centre of Penzance where there are a number of lovely restaurants at varying prices. It is also perfect for exploring the rest of Cornwall as nowhere is that far away by car. As for the B&B itself, the building was beautiful inside and out with a modern feel while still keeping the character of the house. We stayed in room 5 which was the perfect size for two of us with a reasonably sized bathroom. Both the room and bathroom (along with the rest of the house) was immaculate and the bed comfortable. One of the days it rained a lot so we made good use of the DVD collection available which was made even cosier by the comfortable bed. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we didn't get to enjoy the garden, but it looked very pretty with lots of interesting plants to look at through the window at breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, the food was outstanding! I especially enjoyed the pancakes while my partner enjoyed the freshly caught haddock that Philippa and David bought that morning especially. Philippa and David were exceptionally helpful and made us feel very welcome and at home. They gave us advice on where to visit (in the rain) and good restaurants to eat at, they were also very easy to get hold of if we needed anything. Overall, our stay at the Venton Vean was a 5 star experience and we definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a perfect holiday in Cornwall and we hope to be back again one day.

This is a beautiful property on a quiet street directly across from a park and an easy walk to the center of town. Phillipa, is a lovely, soft spoken and gracious hostess. The rooms are very modern, sleek, bright and well appointed. The bed was so comfortable. There is beautiful artwork and artistic objects throughout the home. The breakfast room overlooked the garden and the breads, jams and marmalades were divine. Breakfast was expertly cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

I come from a foreign city. Even though I spend a lot of my younger years in the suburbs of UK, I am still very climatized to a buzzing city life. It was a very pleasant arrival to UK when my partner and myself found ourselves here in Penazance after around 20 hours of traveling. We were greeted with a very, and also literally, warm welcome at Venton Vean when we met Phillipa.

This B&B is located in a very good spot. A pleasant walk into town and a very quiet surrounding where even a drop of a pin can be heard. It is very clean and well maintained; good size bed and shower. Especailly like the touch of blues here and there, it suits the place and the theme of the environment very well.

After the room comes the superb Breakfast. Most ingredients are local and very VERY fresh. Fruits were suitably mixed and the yoghurt was worth highlighting. We later found out they were made by David. Amazing.

It was a great experience at Venton Vean and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to go to Penzance for a relaxing holiday. Last but not least, a big thank you to Phillipa and David for having us.

This is a welcoming and luxurious B&B in a quiet residential street in Penzance. There is no off-road parking, but we were always able to park right beside the gate. The room was comfortable and very well-equipped; when I asked for soap rather than shower gel for the shower (explaining that I found shower gel made it slippery, and I have a bad hip) I was brought not only soap but a non-slip mat so effective that I am buying one for myself, to take travelling with me! Philippa’s husband David helped us upstairs with our heavy cases, and Philippa went to great lengths to provide my husband with the best wake-up coffee possible, leaving us a cafetière with fresh-ground coffee already in it, and putting a little jug of cold milk outside our door before we woke to save me from having to struggle downstairs to fetch it from the fridge. Nothing seemed too much trouble! Philippa was happy to take time to advise on local places of interest, and to lend us a marked-up map of how to get there. Breakfast the first day was perhaps a little slow, but by the second day we had the hang of it and asked for our eggs as soon as we came downstairs, so that they didn’t take so long to appear (although there was plenty of self-service toast and delicious preserves to keep us going). We will certainly return to this excellent B&B!

From the luxurious bathrooms to the mouth-watering breakfasts, Venton Vean takes the concept of b&b to new heights. Nothing is too much trouble for hosts Philippa and David, who provide warm service with genuine smiles. Peaceful, welcoming and groovy, this gorgeous villa is a perfect hideaway for foodies who appreciate the good things in life. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Try room number three if you love beautiful bathrooms.

Wonderful place to stay. I had room 3 which has an enormous bathroom, well worth planning a long soak in the tub, with the bathrobes as well its rather like having your own spa! Bed was very comfortable and the decor is impeccable , really lovely. Wish I could have stayed longer and will definitely be back! Its a short walk from the ferry or train along the sea front.

Room Tip: Room 3 has a stunning bathroom, like having your own spa bath and an amazing shower, couldn't ha...
