We stayed at Venton Vean as part of our summer holiday tour of Britain by train. Well what can we say. Phillipa and David were so welcoming and the coffee and cake on arrival after a long journey was delicious. The room was lovely. Light and airy and the bed was so comfy. Great shower that really woke you up in a morning and lovely lemon shower gel to help. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, home made jams, muesli and yoghurt. Cooked breakfast was excellent, all locally sourced and the pancakes were so good. One afternoon we had a cream tea in our room with home made jam ,clotted cream and the best scones we have ever tasted. Even though it is quite a recent venture for Phillipa and David they do it extremely well. We would stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone

David and Philippa are working hard to create a welcoming B&B. They have a terrific location in a quiet residential area but within walking distance of virtually everything Penzance has to offer. They have renovated and restored the space carefully, preserving all of the period details. They go out of their way to provide creative breakfasts and suggestions for activities. Any request is welcome and readily addressed. Space seemed tighter in Bedroom 3 than appeared in the website photo, causing us to wonder if a wide-angle lens had been used for the photo. On the other hand, the ensuite bath was spacious and luxurious. All told, a very good experience with nice people.

... when you are in Penzance don't stay anywhere else. If you are lucky enough to find that David and Philippa have a room free at Venton Vean then book it immediately! We had the most fantastic stay last weekend in this marvellously designed B&B. The bed was so damned comfortable I had to force myself to rise to greet the day and the breakfast (I had grilled Haloumi) was absolutely delicious, so good I could have eaten it again and again ... So there you have it. If you decide to stay anywhere else in Penzance you are quite mad. Venton Vean is first class.

Room Tip: We had Room 3 with an vast bath and monsoon shower ...

We stayed here with our two children, (aged 6 & 8), at the end of the school holidays before having some time in the Scilly Isles. Venton Vean really is a truly wonderful place to stay. The house is so stylish and elegant. I felt like I'd walked in to a cox & cox brochure and my son has requested the conran shop bookshelf from the guest lounge for christmas!

The kids had their own adjoining room to ours, which gave us loads of space and meant we could comfortably read / watch TV after they'd gone to bed.

The breakfasts were absolutely superb. I tried a different breakfast each morning, (we had three nights), and my favourite was the mexican stylee. Without doubt the best breakfast I've ever had. I would travel to Penzance again just to eat that breakfast. The home made pancakes were the kids favourite.

It's a great location for families, with a lovely park literally opposite the hotel and an easy stroll in to town. It's on a quiet road with plenty of unrestricted parking - we always got a space right outside.

Phillipa & David were really lovely hosts - very warm, welcoming and relaxed. Thanks again - we'll be back!

Staying at Venton Vean was a fantastic experience. On arrival, the hosts greeted us with delicious homemade cake and freshly ground coffee. Our room was spacious and well appointed, with lovely details such as the fluffy bathrobes in the bathroom. The B+B is located on a quiet side street, but easy walking distance to the centre. There's no off-street parking, but we never had a problem finding a spot on the street close to the B+B.
Breakfasts are excellent- you can get a very good full English, but there are other choices, such as the mexican breakfast, smoked salmon or pancakes, which we took full advantage of. The lovely hosts were happy to help in any way they could- lending us maps, or offering advice on places to go.
All in all, highly recommended!

Room Tip: We stayed in room two, which I think is a bit more spacious than the others and has a nice view over...

Venton Vean is a stylish, yet cosy place to stay. David and Philippa make you feel so welcome and have thought of everything. Delicious breakfasts, freshly ground coffee when you want it, and beautiful rooms.
We have a 6 month old baby who was also made very welcome. The family space on the top floor meant he had his own room, and they organised a babysitter for us on one evening so we could have a real break! On the other evenings it is obviously harder to go out so we had a couple of takeaways for which they still set up a table for us, but the main highlight for us was David's cooking. We had two evenings when he cooked. Organised in advance he had bought fresh local produce and in particular the fresh fish was the best meal all holiday.
We had an amazing time, and really hope to go back. We couldn't fault the location, rooms, food and service they offer. Nothing is too much trouble, and we would recommend you go and try it for yourselves!

Room Tip: All the rooms our beautiful, but if you have a child/children you need room 4 with the adjoining roo...

Perfect B&B if you love good food and design and have a young family. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will return when next in the area. Particular highlights for us were the Mexican breakfast and the sweets left for our children which came in very handy on a long cliff walk...
