“Two night stay on our way home from the Scilly Isles”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

Having booked our first child free holiday since the children had fledged we decided to have a relaxed journey home to the midlands. This hotel was all we expected it to be and more. It's lovely to have individualized rooms in a characterful property rather than a standard souless room in a modern chain hotel.

We had a room on the top floor with a view out across the bay. Though it was the hottest part of this summer, we kept cool with several skylights and a very efficient fan. There was a wardrobe in the eaves and adequate drawers and shelving for storage.

The staff were very helpful and directed us to potential eateries and we had a call the evening we were to arrive to ensure there was someone at hand at reception.

Breakfast , again, is a treat. The dining room is spacious and comfortable with lots of reading material to browse. Eggs Benedict were spot on and kept me going until my cream tea in the afternoon on St Michael's Mount.

Would definately return or visit their sister hotel in Brighton.

Room Tip: Each room is so individual I'm sure they all have their own qualities however I did like being a...

The website made this sound like a lovely boutique hotel, with a price to match.
Our visit started by having to double park, blocking the main road to drop off our cases. Of course that is to be expected with a central location, perhaps the porter will run out and help us with our cases to minimise congestion for the town. Some hope the door was locked, after much ringing it was eventually opened.
Check in was OK, we were welcomed and shown to our room, what a shock! We have stayed in hotels at this price with bigger wardrobes than this room. There wasn’t even room for our cases standing up, let alone anywhere to unpack them, no storage. As others have commented, with a room this small the shower was minute, don’t drop the soap, you will have to come out to pick it up. There is no regulation on the water so it surged from too hot to too cold.
This it is a B&B with ideas above its station. Would I stay again, no, not even at a much lower price?
The only positive from this visit, the pub across the road did a fantastic evening meal.

We went for a long, quiet weekend at the end of June - only to find ourselves in the middle of the Galowal festival, with Maizey Day on the Saturday in the street outside the window! As it turned out this simply added to the pleasure of the weekend - we had a Blues band playing outside the pub across the road so could listen in comfort or pop across for a pint or indeed shut the windows to shut out most of the noise. The room was delightful (we were in the Jo Peel room), very comfortable, light, stylish and tranquil. The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive, breakfast was good (though I'd have liked the option of unsmoked bacon). We'll definitely be back and would wholeheartedly recommend staying there.

The only minor downside would be the street noise from the pub opposite - a small price to pay for an excellent room and service.
Each of the hotel rooms are unique, such a brilliant idea. Perfect for anyone looking for a different short stay in Penzance with a lovely bit of breakfast to top it all off!! Would recommend to anyone.

We have just had a night at the hotel and for once we felt happy with the room and how much we had paid. The staff were so very helpful and friendly and the room had all the mod cons. Very comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast was lush and even satisfied my hungry needs! The location was central and I the guests were quite global with families (teens) and travelling types young couples (Japanese or Chinese, didn`t hear them speak) Would definitely come back as a couple and when on business.

We only had one night in this hotel but it was a perfect place to stay. The room was a bit small but very nice decorated. The staff was more than friendly and helpful. The Breakfast was the best I have had for a long time outside.
At the end I bought a small picture from their gallery to have an souvenir from this lovely place.
