We enjoyed an evening meal at the Dolphin Tavern. The crab and prawn starters were delicious and tasted very fresh. For mains, we had steak and ale pie and sole, and both were good. The pie contained plenty of good quality meat. The raspberry pavlova was slightly disappointing, as it contained lots of meringue, but very few raspberries. Service was friendly and efficient. We arrived at 7.30 and it was easy to get a table without a reservation. But it could be more difficult if you arrive at 8.30.
Note: If you're looking for a place to stay before an early departure on the Scillonian, this has to be the closest, as it's just at the end of the quay.

We have just spent 2 nights in the Dolphin Tavern and all I can say is that it was absolutely lovely and we cant wait to go back. There are only 2 rooms, one larger family room and a smaller room but with a lovely big bed. The room had everything you need and an excellent choice of biscuits on a very well stocked tray, it even contained a kit kat 2nd day!! The Pub is in a perfect location although on a very busy road. We thought this might have been noisy but it turned out not to be the case. The staff are amazing, breakfast was amazing the evening meal was amazing, If there could possibly be a down side it was the noisy saniflow loo which was extremely loud, but a small price to pay for what has to be said a perfect couple of days.

We were looking for an extra night to stay in Penzance and were really pleased we decided to try The Dolphin Tavern. Due to it being a busy Saturday night, the staff had reserved a table for dinner for us in case we wanted to eat there, but we unfortunatley already had plans. However we did have lunch there and the food was lovely. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable, with a view out onto the harbour. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and went out of their way help us.
We would highly recommend this venue to anyone wanting to stay in Penzance

Stayed for one night here... We were not disappointed! We had a rickety room - but how we loved it - the floor had a slight slant but it so added to the character. The bathroom had towels that had bern washed in frantic softener - they felt and smelt lush. The bit I loved was the selection of biscuits and chocolate! Lovely - a real treat. I would of preferred mugs for a larger 'cuppa' but that's no biggie really. The view and setting is breath-taking and we did indeed awake to the hussle & bustle of the harbour...certainly put a smile on my face. Now breakfast was excellent - the sausages so scrumy! We even had a personal introduction by our chef called Vicki and she couldn't do enough for us - we tailored our own breakfasts and she also did some white pudding for us - my favourite! We were allowed to have a lie in and leave with no pressure of time - they worked around us! It's all those little extras as I call them that makes this place a great place to stay...
