Stayed here for a night May 2012. My room was acceptable and clean. However, the room was above the bar and it was quite noisy at night. Probably one of the poorest "Full English Breakfast" meals I've had in my many years of traveling in the UK. A big plus--it's close to the train station and there is a self-serve laundry facility across the street (these can be hard to find when one is traveling in the UK).

Hotel staff very friendly, room basic and overpriced. Trouble with toilet backing up after being there only a couple of hours.Told reception you said later when we returned all was sorted. Next morning showering , before breakfast the shower tray was not running away.so water ended up all over the floor. Reported it to Staff and was told it is a problem with the Saniflow System. The rooms are overpriced and very basic.

We stayed here for a night and experienced both good and not so good. On the good site is an excellent location and exceptionally friendly staff. On the not so good were the average bed and particularly the mechanical/saniflow toilet which you wouln't expect in a hotel of this price. It sounded like we had a combine harvester in the bathroom/adjacent room.
Breakfast again was like Russian Roulette , with nice eggs and sausage but the bacon nigh on incinerated.
In short ok but overpriced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a normal toilet!

6 of us stayed overnight in 3 twin rooms which were clean and comfortable. Directly opposite the train station and at the bottom of the main street.
Service was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful.
Located above the pub which served good, reasonably priced food.

Room Tip: Room at the front had sea view but slight noise from road and nightclub.

Nice bar but they advertise home cooked food. We has a meal which was clearly a microwaved heated pie as the pastry was soggy and frozen not fresh veg and a curry that had been defrosted as it had water around it. Very disappointing

Recently this hotel has started to focus more on food and have been offering cheap meals throughout the week for Monday night being "spice" night. Me and my partner went here for a curry, okay we were not spending a great deal but I can only describe it as dog food. Cheap and nasty and most definately not cooked, more like something out of a tin. We complained to the bar staff and they did not offer us a different dish or a refund so we politely paid and left promptly so not to cause a scene. However since the customer is always right, had they apologised or got us something else, we would of probably went back to try other things on the menu but now we have just been telling our friends not to go there as they didnt seem to really care what we thought. Disappointed as this used to be a lively friendly pub in pz but has gone downhill of late.

We twelve Westcombe Park Rugby Club supporters stayed for two nights in Penzance and went on the train to Redruth for the match. Ideally situated right near to the station the public areas of the hotel were clean and well maintained. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were also clean and had good size en-suite faclities. After the match we decided to head back to Penzance and to eat back at the hotel. We ate in a large private room. The waiter was first rate and most helpful - not easy with a party of twelve rugby supporters - the food, beer and wine were enjoyed by us all. We would recommend the Longboat Inn for anyone wishing to visit this beautiful part of the country.
