We stayed for three nights at The Lugger and sadly it was not as nice as hoped. The rooms itself was ok but was suffering from mould and the en-suite smelt stale. It could have also done with a good hoover. Our room was at the front of the hotel so had great views but this needs to be balanced with the constant noise from the road and also from the outside bar area which is immediately below. The first two nights there was noise/loud voices until 12.30ish when I must have fallen to sleep. On the Saturday we had the delight of a live band and a wedding disco simultaneously! Despite being in our room we might as well have been in the bar – the music finally stopped around 11.45 but the loud voices continued …..
The outside front of the hotel is light up by powerful up lighters which shone directly into our room at night as the curtains might as well not have been there. If you are a light sleeper this certainly is not the place for you.

Breakfast was ok. We didn’t have any other meals there so can’t comment on that. The reception desk was unmanned and we certainly didn’t meet any of the staff that have such glowing comments in other reviews, in fact we didn’t really speak or feel welcomed by anyone.

Lovely place to stay, we had the best room (no.5), which faces the sea. I'll go back anytime. Great people running the place, despite being frantically busy at breakfast, the service didn't suffer.

This was our second stay at The Lugger - loved it the first time. This time we were showing Cornwall off to Australian friends and we were very lucky with the weather, so the Aussies think it never rains in the UK in June! We were very happy with our sea view rooms which almost feel like bed sitting rooms with a table and chairs in the window to feast your eyes on the full expanse of Mounts Bay. There is always something happening out to sea, so don't forget the binoculars. We did eat out a lot but when we decided to have our meals in the hotel, they were great. Lesley and Shane are a good fun couple who are determined to make sure that everyone enjoys their stay at the Lugger, which we certainly did. We'll be back next year, if we can wait that long.

Just returned from 3 nights at the Lugger. I was traveling with a group of 8 American women on a Needlework Tour of Cornwall. www.serendipitytours.com We loved the Lugger. Our rooms were stylish and well appointed. The view from the dining room was gorgeous. 2 of the 3 dinners were wonderful and the third was good (just not up to the first two ~ shouldn't order steak at the seashore) I can't wait to return and walk the coastal path and enjoy seeing Cornwall again.

We went to the Lugger for 3 nights in april 2009 with a group of 17 people from the Netherlands and we had a very good time. The rooms were good enough, especially if you take in consideration the price you pay. Of course the rooms with a view were better than the ones at the back. The service was just great: nothing was too much trouble. Conclusion: the food was good, the people were very friendly and the rooms were clean, what else do you need!
