I was recommended the Tolcarne Beach Apartments by my sister, and was certainly not disappointed. I called a couple of days before our stay to confirm our booking for two couples, and was offered a free upgrade to a three bedroom apartment, which was very much appreciated, as were the fresh scones, jam and clotted cream we found awaiting us after we arrived.

The location could not be bettered (once one has found the entrance to the steep road down!), the staff are very welcoming, and it is reassuring to have security on site overnight (the security guy is really friendly and helpful).

The apartments themselves are very comfortably appointed, and we were lucky enough to have the upstairs bedroom and the beautiful view. As we were staying in the apartment closest to Kahuna, there was a little noise from the restaurant late at night, and the proximity light did disturb us on the first night, but that really is the only (very) small niggle. We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: If you want quiet at night, ask for the second block (away from Kahuna)

We've just returned and we were very impressed with the whole beach enviroment for Tolcarne; apartments, Kahuna, surf shop, office.

Firstly whilst we were on our long journey down Kate from the office txt me to say that she was nearby so could we please ring her when we arrived so that she could welcome us - opposed to the usual out of office hours arrival, which is still straight forward by getting our key from a secure location - but we were to discover she was actually having a meal out with friends in Kahuna Restaurant and was happy for us to interrupt so she could welcome us properly.

We are a family of four, with two small girls, and our two bedroomed apartment was just lovely, the master bedroom was especially nice! We had 2x velux windows in the 'roof' which extended out so you could really see out beyond the tiles. All apartments have balconies off the lounge/diner/kitchen. The kitchen is small but had everything we required for a four night long weekend stay (no dishwasher for those planning a week or more). Worth noting too BBQ's are not allowed on the beach or the apartment balcony or premises. There is a Tesco Express, Aldi and Asda all within a short walk for either pizza's or 'ping' meals and Sainsbury's is over towards Fistral Beach/Headland area. There is an oven & hob for the culinary active whilst on holiday, though the most we did was sandwiches, sausage butties and hot Weetabix! There is a Pizza Express too at the top of the cliff towards town centre - under Rocklands apartment block, you can eat in or out on the terrace looking out to sea.

We had an abundance of white fluffy towels between the four of us. Bathroom was downstairs adjacent our girls twin room, we had a corner electric shower unit in our ensuite so didn't have to worry about a full hot bath for the girls leaving us short.

Steve in the surf hire shop on Tolcarne was very helpful and not at all concerned at our lack of knowledge on surf/body boarding preceedings. He arranged for our beginner surf lessons and Emma from Dolphin Surf was lovely. We all had great fun and thankful for Charlotte who came along with Emma to take professional photographs, so at least we had the proof of our enjoyment!

Kahuna restaurant neighbouring the apartment is a 'must eat' location if you are staying down on the beach, it opens for lunch & dinner. Be warned, you must book ahead at weekends especially but probably every day in peak season as its a very very good eatery.

Don't forget to take your favourite tea's and coffee's with you for the apartment.
The famous road down is exciting, but not unmanaegible. All part of the fun.

Just returned from a girls trip to Newquay staying in the Tolcarne beach apartments. The ladies who take the bookings and sort the apartments out are very helpful, nothing is too much trouble and they even organised for our grocery order to be collected from the top of the cliff and bought down to the apartment. The cream tea and the fresh flowers were a very nice welcome to the apartment. The beach also has security at night and you are able to leave your apartment key with them when you go out. There were however a few negative points but nothing that spoiled our holiday; the sofa bed in the apartment was still broken (as per previous peoples reviews), one of the chairs on the balcony was broken and on the first evening we were asked to turn our music down at the relatively early time of 6pm, please bear in mind we are not teenagers and as we were able to talk to each other over the volume of the music so definitely not that loud. The only other concern we had was negotiating our way down the cliff steps at night as there is no lighting and it is almost impossible to see where you are going.

If you are looking for a quiet holiday with a constantly changing view this is definitely the place to go.

We are still here having the best holidayinthe uk ever! The apartment is lovely with everything you need like at home. The master bedroom upstairs is amazing with huge velux windows that open right out to the beach and ocean. Balcony at the front in perfect for dining al fresco on sunny evenings.
Being located right on the beach means you spend the whole day there and can swim as much as you like (so longs syou have wetsuits!) because You can come inside for hot shower or Bath after!
You can hire everything you need for surfing, bodyboarding, wetsuits, sun beds etc down here from Steve the guy running the surf hire shop at reasonable prices.
We are lucky to have Internet as we ares in the end apartment (lamorna) so are picking up Kahuna's wifi though next time we come (and we are already planning our next trip maybe even in Aug this year) we are going to book up the other end or in the next blockaded are directly over the Venus cafe which although is not noisy, there is just lots of people sitting down there right under and in front of our balcony so they are part of our view and also can see right into our apartment so you have to be really careful being covered up (clothes wise!)

There's a really good restaurant called Kahuna run by Kelly and Ryan which does delicious food at mid price range. The 'organic' Venus restaurant underneath us is just a cafe Really and we havnt had anything from there at all as it just seems like normal greasy spoon stuff and the lone girl running it is moody!

You can walk to Newquay town across the sand when the tide slow which is nice, walk the other way to Lusty Glaze beach which is an outdoor adventure beach with a zip wire, rat run up the cliff in and out of obstacles, absailing and Lots of other stuff too. The kids will love it!

All in all it is a perfect location, we have been super lucky with the weather, have not stopped body boarding, had such a fab time we don't want to leave but, we'll be back!!

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are probably good

This weekend I arrived with eleven other guys for a stag weekend staying in the surf shacks from Friday through to Sunday. We drove from Southend on Sea, Essex and after an immensely long journey the sight that greeted us made the whole thing worth while. The beach is fantastic and the view is breathtaking.

The surf shacks lacked a power supply point but all of us agreed that they were warm, quiet and the mattresses were extremely comfy. These are a lot more solid than photos would have you believe. More than enough storage for a short stay.

The shower and toilet facilities were basic but clean, functional and welcome after braving a cold surf in the sea. Waking up to the sound and sight of the sea on your doorstep in the morning makes any slight deficiencies pale into insignificance.

The staff have been very helpful and friendly throughout the stay. The service for food and drinks has been very good, although priced a little more than expected. The site security is especially good. We were made to feel welcome, cared for and secure all throughout our stay.

We surfed, went go-karting, had bbq on beach and arranged VIP entry to Koola Club. Everything is on the doorstep, the surfing and bbq part of the same complex. Parking is an issue but speaking to the staff soon overcame this.

In all it was a brilliant weekend and we cannot thank the staff at Tolcarne enough for their hospitality. Cheers guys.

My friend and I were in charge of organising a hen do for our best friend. She was determined to go surfing so googles Newquay and saw an advert for this place.
When we arrived the place was immaculate and the staff were brilliantly friendly. When we go to our room to lady explained there had been a problem with a broke sofa bed, they had replaced it and given us complimentary wine!!
There were 11 girls staying in an 8 bed and a 4 bed apartment, only problem would be the space in some of the rooms but perfect for a few nights!!!
Great location for clubbing and shopping in Newquay and of course the awesome beach which the apartments sit on.
Security was high which made 11 ladies feel really safe!!

Thank you, would consider re booking for next year now!!!

Stayed in two bed apartment for 5 nights, loved it so much extended stay for another 2 nights. We moved to 3 bed apartment for last 3 nights. Everything about our stay was perfect. Accommodation first class with views to die for! The view is never the same and is mesmerizing, from high tide to low tide, the crashing roaring waves, the surfers... absolutely fantastic. We spent a lot of time at the apartment and on the balcony or beach, even preferring to eat at home rather than eat out.
Ideal location for seeing cornwall by car but also for walking along the many beaches Newquay has to offer. Very picturesque.
Access not a problem for us. Part of the lane down is narrow and the drive down was a bit scary at first. There is parking before the narrow part if preferred.
Staff efficient and helpful and look after the holiday homes brilliantly.
We visited cornwall after doing a tour of south coast including southampton, bournemouth, torquay. We much preferred cornwall and loved Newquay in particular. Small town but with everything you could need.
One tiny thing I did miss was not having a wok to cook with. kitchen extremely well equipped other than that!
Will definitely stay again, just wish it wasn't a six hour car ride away!
