A really nice restaurantI in a great setting. I had the scallop starter and the fruits de Mare as a main. My husband had the seafood chowder starter and the crab and lobster pasta for mains. All delicious. Staff very helpfull and friendly. Would definately recommend.

Fantastic location, right on or almost in the harbour depending on the tide! Really good fresh fish well presented and served by excellent friendly staff. Great table almost in the sea, great atmosphere. Holding tanks for lobster and crab if that's your choice, everything else caught that morning - highly recommended.

Thanks to the reviews here, we chose to try the Boathouse on our first day in Newquay and weren't disappointed – neither by the deliciously fresh seafood nor by the huge portions nor the very friendly service.

We arrived for a late lunch and were very glad to get the last available table: starter was clam chowder and then we shared huge portions of lobster, crab, and mussels along with a delicious crab sandwich - all tasted as fresh as the living specimens we could see just outside. The very friendly atmosphere wasn't just for a couple like us but evidently for families too with a birthday celebration among family members of all ages at a large table next to us. But there was enough room for everyone and the great servers managed to please everyone with ease.

We lingered over our scrumptious Cornish ice-cream and superb cappuccino until very late in the afternoon and were thus able to enjoy the change in atmosphere as the busy lunchtime crowd was slowly replaced by stray guests wandering in for drinks once the kitchen closed until dinner.

We’re thankful especially to TripAdvisor since the restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, down a winding street to a little harbor area not far from (but also not visible from) the Blue Reef Aquarium, so we wouldn’t have come across it had we not known what we were looking for. And we’re very glad that we took the trouble to find the Boathouse for one of the best seafood delights we had during our stay in Cornwall.

Was really disappointed with the food and service, we ordered the monk fish and mackerel, the monk fish was bland and tasteless with over cooked rice the mackerel was served without the tomatoe salsa, when we asked the waiter ( who I think was the owner) were it was he said to dig in there and you will find it, still couldn't find it after a good dig through a handful of tesco salad so he begrudgingly bought out some sweet chilli sauce a slapped that on the table, I then asked if there was any ketchup for the fries, whooa that was almost a bridge to far, storms off and slaps the ketchup on the table. No one ever asked if we wanted anymore drinks and we were never asked how our meal was or for any feed back hence why I'm commenting on here.
We were still charged £60 for 2 mains and a bottle of wine when we could of had the same meal and better service from the local pub.
Won't be heading back there and would recommend the HARBOUR HOTEL instead if your looking for a meal with a nice view of the Newquay harbour.
