Super views, pleasant staff, nice breakfasts and clean. Rooms far to small and bathrooms miniscule. Staff should do more to compensate for their 4 star rating. Dining times are too restrictive.

This is the second time i have stayed at the Harbour Hotel with my partner, daughter (who is 13 months old) and our dog. Our room (think it was room 3?) was immaculate and very comfy. Things like, a travel cot already set up in the room, slippers, choccies on our pillows etc were nice touches on arrival after our long journey. The view from our balcony was to die for, absolutely stunning, the dog seemed to like it too! Staff could not have been nicer, nothing was a trouble for them. Lovely breakfast, all tastes catered for (i am lactose intolerant and have soy milk which was provided). All in all, yet again a lovely stay. Would highly recommend!

We stayed in room 1 (Dove) in early June, two large comfortable armchairs and a relaxing spa bath along with the chocolates, bath robes and slippers, made us feel welcome straight away. The room was bright and airy, spotlessly clean with stunning views across the harbour and most of the beaches out towards Trevose Head.
The hotel is facing south and protected from the prevailing winds as we found when we walked across to Fistral on the coastal path, very windy, yet when we came back for a late lunch on the Terrace, it was sunny, warm and sheltered, lunch was absolutely stunning, scallops cooked to perfection. We had lunch on the Terrace most days, working our way through the menu, the food and presentation in our opinion is second to none, which also includes the wonderful breakfast, as much or as little as you want!
The staff at the Harbour are extremely friendly and attentive without being intrusive, nothing is too much trouble, which made our stay a delight.
Overall its the small touches, too numerous to mention, that make a big difference, and we would happily recommend the Harbour to anyone, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back.

Room Tip: Room 1 is the most spacious.

It's NOT a Hotel! We stayed here with our two girls for four nights from the 2nd to 5th June 2011. Our girls had a twin room to the right of the entrance hall and we had a double (room 4 I think) . Our room was tiny - you could just about call it a double! The en-suite had a tiny basin that you could really only use to brush your teeth in. I did ask for a larger room but was told that the remaining 3 rooms had all been taken. The Harbour is in a brilliant location overlooking Newquay fishing harbour and all rooms have balconies and teak chairs to sit in. The cleanliness of the place is second to none and the breakfast also excellent. Now comes the bad bit.....we booked this 'hotel' because the website states that the Harbour restaurant provides lunches and evening meals with sample menus on display. However, when we arrived we were promply told that the restaurant was closed in the evening and would probably remain so for the rest of the year! Therefore we ended staying in an upmarket B&B, which at £250 per night for the 2 rooms in my book is too steep! At the very least The Harbour should update its website and clearly state that the restaurant does NOT provide evening meals and not bothering to tell clients when they arrive at night, weary and hungry only to be told that the nearest place for a bite to eat is at the awful Red Lion pub at the top of the hill is simply not good enough!

Room Tip: Don't go for Room 4!

Sorry for the huge time delay in replying to this review. We have now made a conscious effort to reply to all reviews.
Room 4, Fly, is our smallest room. It is furnished to exactly the same standards as all the other rooms, boasts fantastic sea views, has a balcony which overlooks the harbour, and is still larger than the minimum size specification for our grading.
It was probably more than unfortunate that the parents had a smaller room than their children.
The cost of this room is now discounted and wherever possible, we offer guests a free upgrade if a larger room is available.
With regards to food service we now offer guests meals in the evenings irrespective of whether the restaurant is open to non residents.
This was a fault which we are happy to rectify.
Thank you for your comments, they are welcome and we realise the importance of holidays to our customers.

The Harbour Hotel is set in a lovely spot above the harbour. All rooms have their own balcony with a marvellous view. We choose the dual aspect room which is very spacious. The hotel also offers excellent meals and the staff is very friendly.

Myself and my partner visited for a long weekend. The hotel is set in a lovely location just far enough away from the busy streets of Newquay. The room was faily small but adequate - the rooms have balconies overlooking the bay. The hotel has a small bar and a restaurant which we did eat in. The food was very good allthough expensive. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay but just have just one complaint about the waitress who was not the friendliest in the world. During breakfast she did not make herself very available and we had to wait some time to be assisted. Then she was quite sarcastic with us when we asked for some more butter. However the young lad who served us dinner was much friendlier. Parking is also a problem and if you do happen to get a space, you wont have it when you return especially in high season.

Newquay is a town mostly for surfers and if you want a more traditional seaside resrt then St Ives is beautiful.
