Owner description: Set in lush sub-tropical gardens, Newquay Zoo is home to more than 1,000 of the world's rare and exciting creatures. Just a short walk from Newquay's town centre and world famous surfing beaches, the Zoo is both one of Cornwall's most exciting visitor attractions and a leading conservation charity. It's the only place in Cornwall where you can see lions devour their lunch before taking a leisurely stroll through a tropical rainforest, surrounded by free flying birds. Keeper talks and animal feeds take place throughout the day but if you fancy an even closer animal encounter we offer visitors the chance to meet and feed our cheeky lemurs, friendly penguins and impossibly cute meerkats! See wildebeest, waterbuck, nyala antelope and zebra roaming in our African Savannah and enjoy some familiar faces in The Village Farm - one of our most popular exhibits which includes many children's favourites such as pot-bellied pigs, African pygmy goats, turkeys and striped squirrels. And if all that isn't enough to keep the kids amused, we also have activity trails, face painting, a children's play area, dragon maze...and much more. Besides enjoying a great family day out, when you visit Newquay Zoo you'll also be supporting our vital education, research and conservation work, all designed to protect endangered animals from extinction. We're playing a key role in the international effort to save animals through conservation breeding.

“A good half day trip out”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

We visited the zoo on 11th Jan. We were a family of 7, consisting of 5 adults, a 2 year old and a 4 month baby. Parking is pay and display, being shared with Waterworld. However, you only pay between 1st April and 31st October. Thought the entrance fee was not too bad at £12.95 per adult. Under 3's are free. The 2 year old absolutely loved the zoo. Was very excited seeing all the different animals that he would not normally see. There were a few improvements going on which are being readied for the summer. The only awkward thing we found was when we were in the Lemur Cafe having lunch. Buggies were not allowed in, and had to be left outside. I completely understand why they did this, as the cafe is not big enough to accommodate them, but when you have a 4 month old that has just gone to sleep and you have to take him out and carry him inside, it disturbed him, and thus we had an unhappy baby whilst we were trying to eat lunch. Overall a lovely afternoon spent looking at the animals.

“Beautifully interesting but could be better”
Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

As a child this was my favourite place to see animals, always where I would pick for birthdays and those few days out now that I myself have children not a lot has changed the zoo is lovely full of happy animals who are well looked after in a safe and calm environment. My only criticism is the parking. Just take anything but a car .

“Zoo Very Good... Beware of Newquay Targeted Parking Scams”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

Newquay is probably one of the worst places in the UK to visit with a car. I would strongly advise you do not visit Newqauy in a vechicle as the Towns signs are deloberately misleading and wrong to generate fines. No parking at anytime signs for instance do not have the boudaries set etc.

Traffic wardens can be see hiding and targeting cars, especially those with children. Early morning raids are also high on there criteria with tickets issued on the minute of expiry the following day.

Unfortunately, parking is a targeted revenue in Newquay and Cornwall. Would advise North Devon Coast as better friendlier environment.

This is a huge issue in Newquay which has followed the recent National Bad Press Liskeard has received. Cornwall Council operate both these towns.

“Good fun ”

Good fun, a little tired at parts and not in season so ice cream stands shut but we enjoyed it. Worth a visit, a little pricey maybe.

Reviewed December 3, 2013 via mobile

Great zoo not the biggest in the world but plenty to look at and lots for the kids to enjoy.Your ticket can last 7 days so before you leave go to the payment desk and they take a photo hey presto a 7 day ticket no extra charge so if you visit early in your holiday you can go back again and check out the otters or say hello to the penguins .great place for a piknik beware of monster killer seagulls of doom they are cheeky and will try there luck at stealing your lunch at any given chance... Great zoo :)
