The Whipsiderry is a small family-run hotel in a delightful seaside villa, now much extended. The hotel is on the outskirts of Newquay and overlooks one of the smaller cove beaches - a short walk away - that can be found in the area. The pleasant lounges are in the original house. There is a well stocked bar. Outside is a large sloping grassed area with play equipment that will appeal to younger children. The reasonably sized outdoor pool was warm and inviting in mid-September. We had a room in the original house with a sea view. The en-suite was a cramped: there might be more space in the newer rooms over the restaurant extension – but you’d probably only get a view of the car park. The 6-course set dinner menu was excellent and good value, as was the breakfast (although the kippers were disappointing and best avoided). It is very convenient if you are flying from Newquay (taxi around £5): ask about free parking at the hotel while you are away. If you have a large car, watch out for the pinch-point at the entry to the car park.

Thank you for taking the time to place your comments about your stay here at the Whipsiderry Hotel. We are glad you found the location convents for the airport, rooms over the dinning room do enjoy a valley view of Porth, You did mention our local smoked Kippers were not to your taste, sorry about that. Yes we are happy for guests to leave their cars with us free of charge if flying to the isle of Scilly, not a problem. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

This is a great hotel and accommodated to all of our needs. We had a lovely room, and the food is amazing!! Six courses in the evening and we were spoilt for choice! The breakfast was very varied and of great quality. We are both in our 20's and loved it. Overall a great stay in a great hotel, we will definitely be returning.

Arrived late and kitchen was closing but owner still offered to do us sandwiches or jacket potato or something, so that was a good start. Room lovely, super clean, and view spectacular. The pooch loved it too...rabbits everywhere in the garden! No kids when I stayed, just a couple of people reading books here and there in the lovely garden and terrace, and I loved the peace and quiet. the pool is nice and clean, and the garden very pretty. The food was AMAZING and they totally catered to my food intolerances, doing gluten free and making sure I was happy. The breakfast is lovely, and they make porridge if you ask! The six course dinner is fabulous and the waitress really helpful and cheery. These hoteliers clearly take pride in their hotel and it really shows.
As for the area - Porth beach isn't doggy friendly in Summer but if you are prepared to do a LOT of steps, then Whipsiderry beach is lovely. There is a 'no kids allowed' tapas bar just down the road (I sound like I hate kids - I actually have kids, but like kiddie free zones when I am not with mine!) and a lively pub that sells food (nowhere near as good as the hotel though).
Newquay town centre is only a short drive away, and the harbour is a quirky non-chavvy place worth visiting.
I highly recommend a stay here. Two nights wasn't enough! :-)

Room Tip: Got to have the sea view!

Great location and caring owners made our stay in this family hotel great experience. It was our 3rd stay, and also our children (7&9) enjoyed stylish 5 course dinner, swimming pool and swings with the most fantastic view. Not really cheap but relaxing stay near wonderful beaches makes this hotel our favourite in Newquay.

Yet another great stay at what we believe is the best hotel in and around Newquay. Excellent hosts in Andy & Lisa, comfortable rooms, heated outdoor swimming pool, great dinner and service every night and very accommodating for our 2 year old son and 2 dogs. We will return next year and wish the team all the best for the rest of the season.

We had to make a sudden and unexpected visit to Newquay and found the Whipsiderry initially by reading the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor - we were not disappointed! The hotel had a very homely feel about it, all the staff were friendly and courteous and the food was excellent both in quality and quantity. We would heartily recommend this hotel to all age groups wishing to visit the area.
Thank you Lisa and Andy for looking after us so well.

This was the first time we had stayed in a small non-chain hotel and we loved it. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by owners Lisa and Andy. The hotel is extremely clean and comfortable. We were in room 4 which had a separate bedroom space for our daughter so she felt she had her own room. Food was excellent and there was plenty of choice of drinks and entertainment. The bar and lounges were very comfortable and the swimming pool was in a sun trap so got good use. The hotel is set in its own gardens with spectacular views of the sea and countryside. We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay and would go back

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4 which was ideal as a family room as a clever conversion of the space meant that...
