We booked to stay at the Glendorgal Hotel because it was extremely close to a wedding we were attending. We had an Ocean view room and were not dissapointed by the amazing view. The staff were also extremely friendly, but the hotel was overpriced and not good value for money at all. Cleanliness - The carpet in our room was very badly stained due to what looked like a radiator leak, the bathroom had hair and bits of tissue stuck behind the door, dirty and missing tile grouting and a broken shower drain cover with hair in it. View - could not be faulted, however it would have been nice to be able to hook the door back. We ended up having it shut to stop it blowing about. Bar - Chaotic service but friendly, however the bar and restaurant smelled of drains so we didnt eat in the hotel. extra charges - we didn't book breakfast and were advised that if we wanted it we would be charged £2 more than if we booked the night before (unusual but a lucky escape by all accounts), dry towels - towel rail in the room not working, so extra towels charged for - (shouldnt be at this price!), wifi - charged - shame.. General maintenance is poor. Swimming pool - generally clean but in need of TLC. Overall not a good experience which is a shame. It could be fabulous. Would we stay again - NO.

We stayed at the Glendorgan when we visited Newquay to attend an event at Lusty Glaze Beach. The hotel is ideally situated and has plenty of car parking spaces. We had a sea view which was pretty breathtaking and it was wonderful to open the outside door and listen to the sound of the sea and watch the sunrise. The room was absolutely fine, no frills but comfortable and although the bathroom was on the small side this didn't really matter. The hotel grounds have some wonderful walks and the cliff top paths offered spectacular views. We'd say that the location and views elevated the hotel to four stars. We would definitely stay again, certainly for one or two night stay if in the area again.

We had spent the week on the South Cornwall coast but as the weather was so good, we decided to have an extra night in Newquay. As we anticipated hotels would be busy, we used laterooms.com We found the Glendorgal hotel which we have previously stayed in the self catering cottages so knew of the complex. We paid £110 for a family room with no breakfast which did not seem much cheaper than their normal price. When we arrived we immediately noticed the site was in poor repair with outside lights broken and a general poor state of repair. We went to our room which was a back room but not a problem, however it looked onto a derelict looking outbuilding. The decking outside was rotting and most of the paintwork was flaking off. The room was very poorly cleaned with food on the bedside cabinet selves, under the bed had not been cleaned for a considerable amount of time and there was tissue and other nasty things underneath the bed. The towels had hairs on. The hooks on the back of the bathroom door had been pulled off and the shower was disgusting with black mould and peeling silicon, the grout was dirty. The shower temperature went from hot to cold without warning and we were concerned the children would get burnt. We went down to the leisure complex which was again in serious need of repair. The floor in the entrance and corridor was dangerous with laminate floor causing trip hazards. The Jacuzzi had been closed down. The Sauna was dirty. The pool area was mouldy and dirty. My children told me the pool smelt like drains. I went in the pool and it was cold and it did smell of drains. We left immediately. Later on I decided to go for a drink in the bar but on enquiring about the WIFI, I was told it was an extra charge of £5. I left the bar as this is an archaic request and have never been charged for WIFI in my life. It appears they a selling the chalets off in the grounds and I can only assume that the proceeds will be used to refurbish this very tired hotel. I told the receptionist my feelings on departure. The staff were polite and helpful but everything else let the hotel down.

Went to a wedding at this hotel so thought it would be an ideal place to stay. The wedding was put on to a high standard where everyone had a great time. Would also highly praise every member of staff we interacted with. As a family with 2 small kids we had a family room; the main bed had an old, thin mattress that I bottomed out and the extra bed was a very cheap plastic (mock leather) sofa bed that would be suitable in a kids room - not something you pay £150 a night for! The room was generally tired where they had tried to update it on a very tight budget and it showed. Breakfast was also a disappointment; the bread was the thinnest, cheapest you could find and I'm not sure the sausages could be called that - they have to have 30% meat in them to be called sausages! I could go on but it felt like they didn't care about the quality they were providing as they didn't need your repeat business, with the view there will always be another couple wanting to get married there and their guests will pay anything to stay. A pity.

After Booking a well needed two day break with my partner and dog, I was really disappointed with this hotel. Not only did we not get much rest due to the constant noise of creaking floor boards both in our room, upstairs and in the landing, the cleaniness of the room itself was not to a good standard (if you happen to be there in the near future do not look under your bed). After politely complaining, we were given the room next door, which had the same exact problem. Speaking to staff, the option of a refund on my 2nd night (to go home early) was not granted. I am thoroughly disappointed with this hotel, and would not recommend to stay there. The views however are absolutely stunning no doubt about that.
