“Lovely apartments in a beautiful setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2012

We stayed in one of the penthouse apartments with a seaview, definitely worth paying extra for - the views are stunning.

Apartment was spacious and had everything you need for a self catering holiday. Although there isn't a lot in watergate bay itself it is beautiful and is ideally located for visiting Newquay, padstow, Eden project etc. Fifteen Cornwall and the beach hut are both a 2 minute walk away and both do fantastic breakfasts.

We got a discount through a deals website so our stay was fantastic value, at full cost it is quite expensive.

If you are looking for some great apartments in a quiet, more upmarket location then look no further. It's within 2 mins walk from the beach. We had an excellent kitchen with everthing you need from cooking a roast dinner to 1 minute noodles! A dishwaher (tablet's provided), all 4 SKY sports channels, spacious bathrooms and living room. We booked a 2 bed apt for 2 of us so ample space even if 4 stayed. We didnt go for a sea view and probably glad as most of evenings we spent down on the beach or in the pub next door though if the evenings were warmer May-Sep then would book one. We were very lucky with the weather for March (20c & sunny) and would stay longer next time ( if the weather came with the holiday!). We will return as Cornwall (probably) has the best coastlines in the world!

We stayed here in early April. The apartments are very good spacious and clean. The sea view we had was great, apt 27. The restaurant on the beach (the beach hut), has lovely food with very good staff. It is a bit pricey but you are paying for the incredible view of the beach. There is a very good bar/restaurant next door (the Pheonix) that serves very good food and priced very well, but does sometimes look shut, just go in. The apartments have all the amenities dishwasher Tv DVD player etc. To sum Watergate Bay up it's a lovely little cove, take supplies as the nearest shop is in the next cove and car needed. The Beachcombers is very nice and would go back.

We selected these apartments on a whim and didn't know what to expect as we hadn't read reviews, however it was wonderful. We had 2 bedrooms, 1 twin and 1 double and the double had an ensuite. It was spotlessly clean, towels, t towels, all utensils and even dishwasher tablets were included. We had a sea view balcony with a table and 4 chairs and even a sofa bed in the living room. We had apps no 12 with the 270 degree bay window.

There is a locker room outside with showers to leave surf boards and wetsuits and a reserved parking space, we will be returning and this time have booked the penthouse as we're also bringing family this time. An extra positive had to be the comfortable beds and pillows.

The pub next door served great food including fresh fish and had live bands that couldn't be heard from the apartment. There is also a bistro in the hotel, the beach hut and Jamie's 15 all in 5 mins walking distance. The apartment has a cooker, fridge freezer and a dishwasher to make your own meals easily.

The company also sent us a 40% discount voucher to use on another booking outside school holidays.

Well worth a trip and a lovely walk on the beach too in evenings as the tide goes out far enough to walk a couple of miles.

Room Tip: Look up the planner - rooms 2 and 12 have sea views and big bay windows, 2 bathrooms. Ring the compa...

We stayed for 3 days (Wednesday till Saturday) and the apartment was excellent. Although we didn't have a sea view apartment it was spotlessly clean, with wooden chairs and tables on the balcony which got the sun all morning. Apt 7 had one bedroom with en suite toilet, and a separate toilet/shower room. There's underfloor heating, TV, DVD, WiFi, kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and plenty of utensils and crockery. Car parking for one car (public car park across the street if needed) but spaces very tight, so if you've got anything larger than a Smart car take a shoe horn!! Seriously, I'm sure if the apartments weren't full you would be able to use one of the the other spaces.
Visited Bude, Padstow, Port Isaac (where Doc Martin TV programme filmed), Tintagel and the Eden Project, all within half to an hours drive away and all worth a visit.

Room Tip: Request sea view if possible, or if you value your car ask for one of the apartments with the larger...

I stayed for 3 days (Thursday 23rd Feb till Sunday, cost was £156,- via a deal site) and I was very impressed with the flat. I stayed in flat no 21, which had sea facing views. The flat was spotlessly clean, it had one bedroom with en suite toilet, and a separate toilet/shower room. There's underfloor heating, television, and DVD player. Kitchen is open plan and has dishwasher and microwave and all that you might need in terms of utensils and crockery. I reported the fridge door to reception as it wasn't shutting properly, and hopefully this will be fixed before anyone else uses the flat. Plenty of lovely fluffy towels and bedding. Beds were 2 singles, not a problem as I was on my own, and could be pushed together if needed. WiFi code given, it's at the back of the envelope that keys and info comes in. Telephone reception is very bad due to it being in a valley but works when on the beach. Car parking for one car (public car park across the street if needed, not sure of cost though). Wooden chairs and tables on the balcony.
Whilst I was there my first day it was very foggy, and the sea was incredibly noisy, and I actually thought the noise came from an industrial plant! The flat is double glazed so you wouldn't hear it with windows shut, the sea really roared! On the Saturday the fog lifted and I spent hours walking and taking pictures by the sea. Surfers were out every day in the sea. I'm not a surfer but admired their skill and tenacity and the fact that they were in the water in freezing cold February. The area is outstandingly beautiful and I will certainly visit again. Just wish I could have brought my dog with me as she'd have absolutely loved the walking, sea and beach.

Room Tip: If you can, chose a sea facing apartment.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2011

We stayed for three nights, luckily during that mini heatwave at the end of Sept 2011. We were in a non sea view, one bed apartment. The car park in numbered and each room has one place.Check in procedure was simple, collected the keys and we were allowed to book in a couple of hours early. The room was very secure. The living room/kitchenette area was very well kept, and certainly big enough, opening out onto the balcony, with a nice view of the rolling hills. The kitchen was well appointed with plates, cutlery in abundance. The dish washer was a nice touch too, along with the cooker/hob and fridge/freezer and microwave. The TV was fine, and the sofa bed was certainly sturdy and confortable enough for two adults to sleep on. The table and chairs were nice too. The bathroom was great with a powerful shower (this occasionally lost water pressure, but only briefly) and spacious. The bedroom was big and airy, with plenty of bedding/pillows etc. The beds (twins) were fine, but we moved them together and they were a lovely super king size then!
All in all, can't fault this place and - at £179 for the three nights, via Secret Escapes- was great value. You're literally 200 yards from Watergate Bay beach itself and only a couple of miles from Newquay. Padstow, Port Isaac, Boscastle & Tintagel are easily within thirty minutes north, St Ives, Fistral Beach and the stunning Perranporth are within the same timscale south. You really can't fault the location or the facilities. I heartily recommend it to you.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms would be quieter, I guess, as the car park is on the inland side of the property.
