Description: More than 100 summer jobs have been created in Newquay with the opening of a new £2m pub. The Cribbar will employ 130 in the peak holiday season and about half that at other times, said operator JD Wetherspoon. It takes its name from the Cribbar reef, which stretches out under the sea from Towan Head. Newquay Safe, a partnership of local authorities and police, welcomed the new pub.

“Better value food else where!”
Reviewed November 17, 2012 via mobile

First off the value of drinks is by far really good in town but having 2 meals here the food is absolutely terrible and both had to be sent back to get my money back! There are many other places in town that offer a cheap alternative for a good bite to eat. Reason going back a second time to eat was to see if it had improved from its opening week. But to no surprise no it hadn't.
The staff in the day seem to be friendly enough and helpful but I encountered on a few occasions poor customer service in the evening.
I would highly recommend the other spoons in town as it is by far the better on with good food and service!

It may NOT have any pretence to be "cordon-bleu", but if you're looking for a quick, pleasant, nutritious meal, served by friendly staff, then this is the place to come!
You may also be lucky enough to catch a drinks special offer - as we were - BUT not having Leffe Brun Belgian beer when they tempt you with Leffe Blonde is quite criminal!
Great value & friendly staff make this a good, quick option when time is limited.

“Good food, great lighting, friendly staff”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

First time in the cribbar, the food was really good, typical weatherspoons fare. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The interior of the cribbar is a little strange, quite brightly lit, with fantastic changing coloured lighting. I enjoyed the visit, but suspect that in the height of summer it won't be to my liking, when the stag/hen doo set descend on Newquay.

“Let Down!!”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Called in for tea & cake, told "No dogs allowed, have to sit outside". Outside on patio with 6'' dog - drinks & cake arrived, but told "You can't sit here with a dog, can only sit down on bottom 'small' patio area" - Uprouted, drinks, cake, dog and all... To find 'small area' no seats left - Now furious, went back to original place & explained we have no where to sit - "Ok, just for this once, we were told." - I lit a cigarette in the open air on the patio - "You can't smoke here" I was informed. OMG,, what can you do? Friend's & I have never felt so unwelcome before!! WE ARE LOCAL... THEIR WINTER TRADE & UNWANTED!! There must have been at most 10 people in the whole place, obviously most of them sat in the 'small smoking dog area'. So many locals take to walking their dog at the weekends, enjoying the quiet beaches and in need of a lunch & refreshments... It beggars belief, can they really afford to be so picky! Drinks are cheap 'full stop'
