The pulled pork was the best part of the meal, but unfortunately everything else seemed to be very cheap versions.

After reading a lot of positive reviews we decided to give it a go. We were holidaying in Crantock and finding somewhere that did a good Sunday lunch was proving to be a little difficult. First impressions are of a good looking proper pub; not one of the modern imitation, no atmosphere efforts. The staff were friendly and even though they were busy they found us a table. There was a good selection of drinks on tap at fair prices.

As per previous reviews the £6.95 plate is rather on the small sides so ordered the £8.95 which were more of a 'standard' size. The quality of the food was OK but the range offered and amount of meat given for the price leaves quite a lot to be desired. We wondered if it may be just us as there were definitely quite a few regulars who were happy, but to be honest we are used to bigger quantities, more selection and cheaper prices.

We were recently staying at Hendra and decided to walk to the Kings Head for a Sunday Carvery. As we walked in we were greeted by very welcoming staff. And that is where the positives end.

The plates used to serve the 'regular' Carvery, were at best the size of saucers. The fact the server managed to stack a single slice of beef and gammon, a couple of frozen spuds and a couple of aunt Bessie's Yorkshire puddings and some slurried 'veg' on one of them defied every conceivable law of physics!

I was also moderately concerned that the gravy solidified during the frantic 5 minutes I hurriedly tried to force down the meal before the rest of the ingredients 'went native'.

In conclusion, staff were great, drinks expensive and food was so poor even the next tables dog turned its nose up!

There were 2 sizes of carvery available, although this was not stated on the board outside. The standard size was actually a kids size plate, in my opinion.,More expensive again, was the large size, which was a standard size plate and not any bigger than a normal dinner plate. In other words not the value I was expecting.

Came for an evening meal with my husband here, nothing was too much for such a great team of people,I had chicken cooked for me especially as I dont eat beef or ham that was the carvery, fantastic food and as per previous reviews, not an aunt bessies packet in site!all fresh and home made, very impressed, would come back again for sure. Advertising for staff here too, shame we dont live here we would have applied without a doubt.
