My boyfriend and I booked Sands for a last minute break from the 7th- 12th April.
I did lots of research before booking into different hotels but decided although Sands is advertised as extremely family orientated this was the best one for us.

When we arrived we couldn't believe how quiet and peaceful the hotel seemed. Our room wasn't ready yet so we went and got a drink in the bar and sat in the beachcomber lounge which has amazing views onto the ocean.
As I said it's advertised as a very family friendly hotel so I half expected there to be kids running around everywhere but there wasn't, saying that it wouldn't have bothered us if there was.

Our room was soon ready and it was lovely. We had a pool suite with a lovely balcony looking over the outdoor pool and garden, I wasn't expecting a balcony so this was a nice surprise. The room was big enough for 2 adults and 2 children so for the two of us we had so much space, the room was lovely and clean and comfortable.

We'd booked bed and breakfast and went down for breakfast around 8 am each morning, there was everything you'd expect there to be in a buffet breakfast I enjoyed the muesli and fruit and my boyfriend enjoyed the fry up.

We were surprised to find the first morning that we were sat on our own in a separate restaurant (ours overlooked the sea again the other over the garden ) this happened every morning we were there on the second day we asked why this was and the lady said we were the only couple there without children and we were in the adult area of the restaurant. We were shocked to hear this as we didn't notice the children much at all (maybe we were just lucky to have a well behaved bunch)
We did appreciate being sat separately as it was a nice peaceful room.

We didnt have lunch at the hotel at all but the menu looked lovely.

We had dinner one evening and that was Delicous. Soup, steak and chocolate éclairs all for £22 was very reasonable.

The waitress at breakfast (same lady every morning, never caught her name)and the evening staff were all lovely too.

Bar staff and reception also very friendly. One particular sunny day my boyfriend and I fancied pimms, the barman said they didn't normally do pitchers until the summer but he could do one especially for us which was great we sat on our balcony and enjoyed the views with a jug of pimms!

The swimming pool was also lovely and never overcrowded.

All in all an amazing stay and we're already planning our next visit!

I'd definitely recommend the hotel for anyone, families or couples! The hotel is well set up for both!

This place is fantastic - it really exceeded our expectations. We stayed here with our 5 year old and the facilities for children are great - the heated swimming pool was a big hit (and the adults also enjoyed the steam room), the games room, the outdoor adventure playground, the maze and the bouncy castles gave us really everything we could ask for to keep our son happy and to allow us to relax as well. During the school holidays there are activities for children which were all great and enterntaining. Food was excellent and plenty of it. Staff were genuinly friendly and helpful, and when they say the rooms are spacious, they really mean spacious! They were clean and well equipped with great views. We were very pleased with Sands and will be back, next time I will try out the spa as well!

Booked this hotel for a weekend away and were not disappointed! The room was spotless and décor was pleasing. Tried out the spa (well worth a visit!) Originally booked for breakfast only Great selection from cereals and croissants through to a full English (self serve) On the second night we had dinner at the hotel and it was beautiful in taste and presentation. Had a swim in the indoor pool which was clean and well maintained. Staff really do go out of there way to make your holiday feel special. Little touches like when I asked if we could have some more tea bags they sent fresh milk up to the room too (instead of those uht things!) Didn't come with the children this time but will be returning with them as they seemed very well catered for children with lots for them to do.

Our aim was to try and stay at Watergate Bay this Easter, but that being fully booked we thought we'd try Sands. We didn't know quite what to expect, but from our arrival we were impressed. The facilities are great - the pool, the really fun 9 hole pitch and putt, the basketball, the excellent massage - could go on! But what really impressed us was the staff. There was a genuine desire to help out and go beyond the 'computer says no' ethos of some hotels. Numerous examples: the changing of a too hard pillow to a softer one, the stepping over a just painted floor to get to surfing equipment, the staff running the kids club, the front desk, the bar staff, the waiting staff.. There must be an ethos behind this, because the genuine friendly nature of all the help seemed totally natural, put us at our ease and made the trip top notch. Would absolutely recommend.

Room Tip: Facing the sea was great - although there is a road in front of the hotel, the double glazing keeps...

This is our fifth time to Sands and we have enjoyed all of them. The resort changes every year as they reinvest profits into the Hotel. It is always staffed by excellent people who are genuinely pleased to help. Superb Spa on site and excellent food. Can be slightly quiet out of season but loads of activities and families in the normal holiday period.

Thoroughly recommend.

Room Tip: The apartment rooms are great value for money and considerably cheaper than Bedruthen steps or Water...

We have recently come back from a wonderful week at the Sands with our two kids aged 3 and almost 6.We originally booked for 6 nights but enjoyed it so much we stayed 1 more.

Our room, 66 (includes 65 & 64) was an apartment suite and was very comfortable with a superking bed for us and a decent size twin room for the kids plus 2 ensuites and a living room with room enough to sit/play. The room was actually nicer than the photos and was spotlessly clean and had a lovely sea view.

From our arrival to our departure the service we received was fantastic - all the staff were friendly and helpful especially the staff at front desk who were always ready to help with a smile. We were very impressed.

The play room is a little dark but is very clean and the kids loved the toys and soft play. They also really enjoyed the evening activities in particular circus skills which we all enjoyed. The pool was clean and warm - my only complaint is it would be great to have 2 more more shower heads in the communal showers (big space but only 1 shower). We also enjoyed the outdoor play areas - the sandpit, maze etc.

Food was also good. Breakfast was fine - a good selection, not exceptional but decent - but the adults evening meals were delicious and amazing value (we were DB&B but even at £22 it was good value). My husband and I like our food and have high standards and we were so surprised by the quality of the food - it really was a highlight of the trip. Since we got back we went to a Michelin starred pub and thought the food wasn't any better than the Sands despite one course costing the same as 3. It really is that good and there wasn't a canteen feel at night. We could have done with some variation in background music though! The service at dinner was very good too and so friendly (thank you Sue, Chloe and Lilly). The kids food wasn't quite the same standard but fresh and tasty and my kids were very happy (the turkey pie was delicious).

We did use the baby listening (after checking it out first) and felt comfortable with it. It is all one building and all but the main door are locked after 7pm (and always someone on reception).

We did go on a quiet week so I don't know what it would be like high season but we would not hesitate to go back. A very relaxing stay - it is hard to find a holiday that feels like a holiday when you have small kids but this did and we loved it. Thank you!

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor are quietest. We loved the apartment suite as we had more space and it meant...
