“great break”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

have just spent 2 nights there, our 5th visit. lovely location, amazing food and the staff without exception are first class. the bedrooms have been recently re-furbished and have been well done. comfortable beds and plenty of hot water. the view from the foyer of fistral beach is great, I could have watched the surfers all day. Will be back in November.

Room Tip: we had a room in the back, nice and quiet, was told by another guest who had a seaview room that it...

My Father and I stay at this hotel every February, and couldn't be more impressed.
The staff go out of their way to be helpful, our room should have been a twin but when we arrived it was made up as a double, this was rectified without fuss and quickly, also any requests were handled with a smile (which always helps). The food is plentiful and good quality, you certainly wont go hungry! The only reason I didn't give this hotel an excellent was the cost of the sandwiches and drinks.

Room Tip: If you don't like/aren't good with stairs ask for a room close to the lift.

Stayed here on a Sunday night and found it to be average. The dinner was the most dissapointing part of the stay. My wifes starter salad must have been prepared some time before serving because the lettuce was flat and started to turn colour where it had been cut. My main meal was pork which was half fat and half meat and was served luke warm. The room we stayed in had an excellent view but not worth £20.00 extra for it. In the room the hotel had a pamphlet about the hotel and its green credentials, there was a strong on shore breeze the night we stayed but the windows were letting enough breeze to move the curtains, I wanted to sit on the window sill but it was to cold with the breeze coming through the window. It was the ideal place to sit and read a book and watch the surfers. The staff were good and breakfast was good and plentiful. The swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi were also good.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, although I was disappointed that your meal in our restaurant was not to the normal high standards that we pride ourselves on, we appreciate all feedback and I will ensure that your comments are passed onto the relevant departments. I apologise that you felt the sea view upgrade was not worth the supplement but glad that you enjoyed our pool facilities. We hope to see you again in the future

We spent three nights here as part of a midweek deal. We were impressed by the quality of the room which was spacious and comfortable. The highlight was having breakfast overlooking the bay which in February was spectacular. Breakfasts were very good. Plenty of choice for the cooked meal plus a buffet of cereals and fruit. We really loved to walk into the town along the beach and around the headland especially when it was blowing a gale. We had only one evening meal at the hotel which was OK - but we decided to eat elsewhere for the rest of our stay and so cannot really give a fair account of the of the menu. Overall, we had a really great break here.

Room Tip: Well worth upgrading to a room with a sea view

Spent a lovely break the end of January this year. The wild sea view of Fistral Beach was spectacular; this was view could be enjoyed from the room, dining room & lounge. Breakfast provided every item you could wish for; it was a buffet style which meant you could help yourself, without any time wasted, waiting to be served. For the evening meal there was a good choice, well presented, & too much for me on a couple of occasions. The staff, in all departments, were very pleasant and helpful to our needs. The hotel is a long way from North Wales, but well worth the visit.
Jo Rich

Room Tip: First floor with a sea view - fantastic.

I originate from Newquay and Fistral and West Pentire mean the world to me. Nowadays when down on business I stay in hotels. Now I will just look for the Esplanade. OK I secured a great deal but deals dont always give the best food, not here!! Everything was spendid, very comfortable room, great reception and lounge area, did I mention the food? the staff are great, nice and helpful and cheery with it. I didnt use the spa or the pool -- something to return for. Well done Esplanade, see you soon- Terry from Crawley

Room Tip: Dont be scared of the deals, the choice of food is good. Front of hotel suffers a bit with wifi rece...

We stayed for two nights dinner, bed and breakfast. The room was clean with tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was hard and the shower weak but the bath was lovely.
The food we had was good with plenty of choice and a good selection of wines. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and service was quick.
All in all a good stay and great value for money.
