We have not been here for a long time and it has changed quick a bit. Interesting house and an interesting history. The gardens have activities for you to try which is great for kids young and old. Good day out.

Stopped on way back from Newquay one afternoon. A nice house looked after by NT. The volunteers were all very good and knowledgable and we enjoyed wandering around the property.

In the first room there where plenty of hands on things and games for the kids to play with and dress up in and our son liked these. We also went into the gardens and although not huge there were some outdoor games to enjoy. Had a look in the shop and a nice cream tea in the cafe. Worth checking the NT website as there was an evening floodlit event on when we were in the area which unfortunately we couldn't get back too.

The biggest room at the house is the Café, the next biggest room is the Shop, and the next biggest room is the great hall. It was a run down pile of stone, which has been rebuilt but in some places not very sympathetically back to a house with very little that relates to the original house and not a lot to see. If you have half and hour to spare and are a Trust member so you wont fork out the cash, by all means kill a bit of time. If you are expecting a spectacular house and grounds you are going to be extremely disappointed.

The road approaching the house is very narrow and at times we needed to pull over to let traffic pass. There are booklets available to guide you around the property which saves having to purchase a guide book. In each room the guides were very knowledgeable and in the hall the guide was helping a small child try on some armour. It is quite a small property but has a shop and restaurant as well as a garden. I would recommend the Homity pie, it was very tasty and my husband had the homemade vegetable soup and home made roll followed by the lemon meringue pie all of which were a hit.

Nice enough place for a visit of a couple of hours or so ... but for me the gardens are much too small to keep me interested. As always the staff are ever helpful etc , etc.

Visited twice in the last 6 months - the last by mistake as we couldn't remember if we had been here before ..... sad I know but becoming residents of Cornwall since July 2012 has done that for me.....

Expensive to visit if not members I reckon.....
