We went with our 2.5 year old and crammed a lot in before his nap at 1pm. If he wasn't still napping we could easily have spent all day there. Take a picnic, and eat it at the top playground. Cafe is fine but basic. Our son loved the 3 different trains. Loved the BIG slide. It's probably not the place to go unless you've got kids. I'd highly recommend it.

My wife and I paid the concessionary fee of £9.75 each. Following a train ride throughnb mostly dense bushes we arrived at a childrens playground. Another train ride through dense bushes took us to another childrens playground. A third train was available to ride on but was too small for my wife and I.
We had a baguette each in the cafe for the princely sum of £4.50 each. Mine was 1 slice of ham and my wife's was cheese. (Both very fresh but very expensive).
A couple of hours gone plus nearly £30 spent basically for a short train ride and a ham roll. each. A total waste of money really for a couple of pensioners on a budget holiday.

We visited in July - during the warm week! - so had a lovely time.

the steam railway was fun (even for a 10 and 13 yr old!) - we loved the canoes and the crazy golf. Nice to wander round and enjoy the nice weather. Great value and friendly and helpful staff.

We went to Lappa last week in lovely sunshine and LOVED it! Taking a train ride up to the main site on "Muffin" through pretty woodland was a great start the the day. Beautiful setting pulling alongside the lake (with paddle style boats to try out) and the site of the old engine house and stack. The great thing about Lappa is that everything is included in the price with no hidden extras-you can ride the trains as many times as you like-ideal when you have 2 very excited youngsters who would stay on them all day if poss! There are also lots of different play areas with sturdy play equipment, a maze and lots of areas to sit down for lunch. There are no "big" or "thrill" rides like what some people are looking for but the clue is in the title- its a STEAM RAILWAY!!!! LOL Would like to have the place a bit nearer to me at home so could visit more often! Will defo be going again and am already planning to visit nearer christmas for the Santa Special!

First off the four stars reflect what this attraction would be if it was not raining. Took two young children with us so the play facilities would have been great for them and was during a slight break in the rain. Canues were fun even in the rain and the two other train rides in the park were also nice.
The only problem for us was the rain and lack of things to do undercover. The cafe food was okay but very basic and so many people were crammed in the eating area to stay out of the rain it felt very clostaphobic.
We were only in the park for 2 hours as we were so wet the children wanted to leave, but we will return on a dry day with a packed lunch.
