Great family day out. Kids loved the railway, golf etc. had to drag our son away from the play castle so we could go home!

Kids liked the train up to the mine area. There's a park, mini golf, another train, canoes and of course a maze (wouldn't be an English day out without a maze!!!). The only thing that puzzles me is why do poms still allow smoking in public areas, no helmets on bikes and no water safety what so ever and yet when a child who's one month off 5 years old wants to ride on an electric car, we are told that it's not allowed??? There was not a single life jacket in sight as the children canoed around the lake.....what would the insurance agent say about that if a child was to drown??? Get with the programme people.

Anyway, I digress. The Lappa valley railway is a fun half day for the kids but it's a one off experience only really, for the under fives.

Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed your visit. With regard to life jackets, we have of course checked with both our health and safety consultants and our insurers. Due to the water depth only being 18 inches, a member of staff supervising the boating lake at all times and as we only allow young children in the canoes with parental supervision life jackets are not deemed necessary.

We have just returned home after another great day at Lappa Valley! As a local with a little boy who loves trains this is an excellent place to take him. I do try and make use of the discounts regularly available in the local press but even so it is excellent value for money!
The place is immaculate and well kept, the staff friendly and lots of activities to keep us all amused. Love the kayaks and the golf, lots of climbing frame/park equipment - some of which appears new from our visit last year!
We took our own picnic and used one of the may tables/seating available but used the cafe for teas and ice cream - all of which was good value. The toilets are clean and tidy as was the temporary loo in the far field. I also have a baby in a pushchair and it is pretty much pushchair friendly.
All in all it is a great day out with lots to do - dont expect to just be able to turn up and be entertained this is not some tacky tourist destimation - you have to make the effort to enjoy all that is on offer.
Well done Lappa Valley - we will be back!

Took our two kiddies here one afternoon, we arrived late and were a little unsure of what to expect when we arrived to park. Have learnt in the past not to judge a book by its cover we paid the afternoon rate fee for a ride on a train.
After a lovely little journey we arrived at the rest of the Railway. Where we found 3 more steam trains, a little lake and play areas, various planned walks.
The kids both loved the steam trains and they spent a good hour on the various play areas.
Because we came late, the queues weren't very long and the space on the climbers increased.
We easily managed to waste the rest of the afternoon here until they closed.
Now that we know what to expect we will definitely arrive earlier next time and stay longer.

Brilliant and great entertainment for the kids. Very good value with the all-in tickets. Just make sure you read the price tariff & the age of children you pay for before going into the ticket office, otherwise you may end up paying a bit more! The train rides were very enjoyable and the canoes were just brilliant. The crazy golf was also great fun and just crazy!! A good place to go on a nice day.
