We were a group of mates who stayed down for the weekend and everyone was so impressed with the house and it’s location. When we weren’t sitting on the balcony loving the view we were down on the beach that is literally a stones throw away. The beach is tidal but the tide seemed to be out 90% of the time and it comes in slowly so you’ve loads of time. The beach aside, the house is mint, loads of space so even if it does turn wet (which I doubt it does in Cornwall) you could chill in the kitchen OR the living room and it wouldn’t feel like you’re on top of each other. There is plenty of bed space and the rooms are clean, light and airy. The fridge is massive and (for us any way) there was the delight of a cream tea on arrival. The neighbors seemed really nice, and there is even use of an amazing bbq and wonderful fire pit as well. Once we found the back way into town (turn left out of the house) it was a 20min walk into the town centre, but with a bbq, beach and fire pit you wont need town.
I cannot WAIT to come back next year and cannot recommend this place highly enough. Communication with the owner was excellent and we had no issues or quibbles.
TLDR: book this place, everything about it is mint.
One helpful hint, the mugs are kept in the draw under the cutlery.
Quay House is ideally positioned looking out over the Gannel with ever changing views. Easy access to the coastal path and beach below gave opportunity for walks with and without the pushchairs and space for the grandchildren to run off steam. The house is well equipped and we were able to make full use of the garden BBQ and outdoor seating. The layout of the house and its facilities were ideal for our three generation party of 12 including a new baby.A short taxi hop into town for the adults gave easy access to some great restaurants in the evening (and baby sitting for Nanny and Grandpa. The toys, TVs and safety gate were much appreciated. Surfing on Fistral beach was great fun and being so close meant we could get parked up with ease.
Please do not hesitate to book this property! We stayed for three nights over new year. It's enormous! There are ample beds for a big family, large amounts of entertaining space and stunning views across the estuary. The property is set up to entertain children; with lego, a pirate ship and even puppets. The kitchen is perfect for preparing a spread and we enjoyed the wine fridge and balcony. Our favourite evening was spent gathered around the fire pit; toasting sausages and marshmallows whilst charging our fizz flutes. The area is perfect for amateur photographers like myself. I achieved some beautiful shots on a walk around the estuary... make sure you take your wellies. There are not many amenities in proximity so you may want to consider this is if there is anyone in your group who struggles to walk or doesn't drive. We didn't even bother venturing into Newquay as the house was so endearing that we didn't want to leave it. We cannot wait to book again... ASAP! Thank you very much for a wonderful stay.
For the second year running we have been lucky enough to be able to stay in this beautiful house . We are a large family , ageing between 57 yrs to 18 months , the house has something for everyone ,the location couldn't be better, the facilities are outstanding and the views amazing . We couldn't ask for more from a holiday destination . We love it so much we hope to return next year .
Outstanding property, in an excellent location managed and run by people who care. From the booking right through to leaving, everything was thought of, and the cream tea was a wonderful touch!
