This pub is always the one we go to when we are with the grand-children. it has a very large spacious dining area with a separate play area for children, and another outside with an almost equally large patio. The views over Newquay Bay are stunning. There was a small queue for ordering food and we noted a sign that said orders were taking a half hour to complete, nevertheless ours appeared in under 15 minutes. The standard of food was excellent despite this being a large pub and the prices were reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful. We called in at around 12 noon for lunch and be 12.30 the place was full - although we were in the height of the holiday season and this was to be expected. A pleasant lunch all round.

Big clean area, stunning views and the additional bonus of a play area. Staff were a little pre occupied talking amongst themselves whilst serving to rate that experience as anything above average. Food stated 30 minute wait, 50 minutes later (slightly extreme for a salad, a sandwich and a kids sausage & mash) our food arrived with no apology for the additional delay. Kids food was cold, but tasted quite nice. Salad was lathered in Mayo so couldn't really taste much else - but a good sized portion. We would prob visit again for a drink to enjoy the view and let the kids play as there are few other places that offer this. Apart from that.. I struggle to see why it's rated so highly.

Great view of the Harbour as you sit outside for your meal which is good, busy pub which is massive, we went for good pub grub which is what we got, there is obviously problems with birds and there is netting but it is a good pub in a good position

We holiday each year along the coast, but spend a day in Newquay each holiday mainly for a trip to a The Fort. Mussels and chips with a pint and that view! It never disappoints. Lovely food and well kept beer. Our children have grown up now so we don't need such a family friendly pub, but the beer garden and the views combined with the consistently good food and service still make it our pub of choice.

No visit to Newquay for us would be complete without one lunch time visit to The Fort. As usual it didn't disappoint. I had the best sea bream I'd ever tasted anywhere. The fillets were thick and perfectly cooked, the skin was crispy and the spicy coating delicious.
If you are thinking about having lunch get there for the lunch time session start at 12.00 as it gets very busy very quickly and as everything is cooked fresh and to order it's definitely not fast food. So I recommend you pick a table with a view, of which there are many especially on a day you can eat alfresco and relax and enjoy the view while you wait for your food!
