We spent two days at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room had recently been refurbished and reflected a quality finish in both decor and fitments (particularly the bathroom). The bed was of generous proportions with a comfortable mattress and crisp fresh bedding - nice wall sited large screen LCD TV.Breakfast was very good with fried eggs cooked to order to ensure freshness - thank you to Dan the chef who on request grilled my sausage to perfection. Also had a fine dinner in Silks restaurant special mention for the seafood starter delicious.Staff were personable, helpful and professional. We look forward to our next stay.

Spent a week at the Atlantic. From the moment of our arrival the staff were both friendly and efficient - from owner to cleaner and handyman, everyone seemed to be attuned to ensuring we were cared for and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well located on the headland just out of the busy town centre, but in easy walking reach of both the town and Fistral beach. Dining in the restaurant was delightful - a nice range on the menu, all of excellent quality. It is a shame the sushi bar mentioned on the website has closed due to lack of interest, but the main restaurant compensates well for this. Our room was clean, well decorared and spacious. As a large hotel there are one ot two minor areas in need of a lick of paint, but nothing to detract from the enjoyment of the stay. A minor fault we noted in the bathroom was quickly fixed as soon as we metioned it. Both indoor and outdoor pools and jacuzzi were clean and well kept. Criticisms? the worst I can think of was that the shower took a couple of minutes to warm up (due, I understand, to us being on the top floor). High points - terrific sea views, lovely food, but most of all the feeling of welcome from all staff. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: We had a room with a sea view, which was delightful - will be going for one with a balcony as well n...

Lovely art deco reception area: very warm and efficient welcome. Beautiful view from room. Crystal light fittings in room very evocative. Re lifts....we had been warned well in advance that there might be a problem...there wasn't. Great location and adequate size indoor and outdoor pool. Bathroom had walk in shower with a seat, as well as bath...handy for older visitors. Plenty of non slip mats provided. Provides all the amenities save for gym but plenty of healthy walks / runs in vicinity. The food was excellent. See separate review of Silks. Overall the young staff were upbeat and the older were quietly efficient. The staff make this hotel a little over 4 star. Overall a lovely four days and we would definitely return.

With numerous telephone calls and emails to this hotel, regarding the already stressful planning of our wedding, no one ever speaks to us (the excuses used are "unavailable" or "in a meeting"), nor does anyone return our calls and emails! When we finally did (on one occasion) speak to the Wedding Coordinator, Lorraine Stones, she was very rude and abrupt on the telephone. Our £1,000 deposit was also lost at one point - we paid the amount in full and one week later they rang us asking for the deposit!! Avoid this hotel at all costs for your big day!! Very very poor customer service.

Dear Yvette H
With reference to your telephone call today 8th August 2012, to inform the hotel that the wedding would still take place. Even after being cancelled on the 22nd July 2012 & that the numbers would now be reduced to 15 persons after being booked for 60 persons.
Unfortunately this will not be possible to reduce the numbers to only 15, now that we have taken the booking on the understanding that 60 will be booked, as you can see from our wedding packs that minimum numbers of 60 persons apply.
You made a booking with us on 26th June 2012 & asked for us to hold Friday 30th August 2013, provisionally for 5 days, this we did. You then rang the hotel on the 1st July 2012 for us to take the £1,000.00 deposit, this we did at 19:52 & you said our terms and conditions would be sent to us. We the received your signed terms and conditions dated the 27th June 2012, to fully confirm your wedding day. I then confirmed your wedding in writing, letter dated 7th July 2012.
You the cancelled your booking stating that you & your guests could not attend, as it was 300 miles away from Newquay in the Midlands, and that you knew the deposit was non-refundable. This I am afraid is no fault of the hotels.
If you wish to reinstate the date & continue with your wedding for 60 guests, then I am happy to proceed. However we will not proceed with anything other than what has been originally booked.
I look forward to hearing from you
Yours Sincerely

L.A.Stones

Held our daughter and son-in-laws wedding reception followed by evening disco, at the Atlantic. Very helpful staff throughout the wedding celebrations and during the planning stages.Special thanks to Lorraine, Kim, Emily and Steven (the latter a dab hand at rescueing our balloons from the ceiling of the ballroom) Everything was done professionally, from the table settings to the hot buffet feast which we and our guests enjoyed (especially the roasted beef sirloin and the raspberry dessert with shortbread) The sun was shining and we have some fantastic photos with the Atlantic ocean as a backdrop.
We stayed the night and had a lovely spacious room on the 3rd floor. Bathroom very modern and spotlessly clean. the 6' bed very comfortable as confirmed by my husband who completely missed the evening disco as he had a little lie down to rest his eyes !
Breakfast - plenty of choice. friendly and courteous chef (Magic?)
In conclusion I would recommend this hotel as a wedding venue or reception venue. It has exceeded our expectations
