Just returned from an evening meal at this pub and we were pleasantly surprised. Nice menu, very good quality food and decent portions. I had grilled mackerel as a maim course - 3 reasonable size mackerel with good bread, mixed salad and tomato salsa with lots of capers - yum, yum! Hubby had pork belly which her said was excellent. They lost one point from me as they didn't have any decaf coffee or herb teas - the waitress told me they weren't into teas or coffees. I think they should be as they are offering a full menu - a lot of people don't like caffeinated drinks in the evening!

Having had a wonderful meal here for our anniversary we booked again for the last night of our holiday and we were once again bowled over. The service was first class with all the staff very attentive and extremely friendly. I had the gourmet burger and it was fantastic, beautifully cooked and very tasty with the only downside the large amount of chips but that is a small gripe. My wife had the 10 ounce rump steak which was again cooked beautifully. The lemon cheesecake is to die for. We will definitely return when we are in the area again. I don't understand how anyone can be disappointed with a meal here

During out 2 week stay we went here 3 times of which twice was for sunday lunch. The sunday lunches we had were excellent and I would highly recomend even though it's a bit of a drive from Newquay. Sunday lunches were around £13.00 for 2 courses of which we had starter and a main course. Starters were and excellent choice of around 5 of which we had curried crayfish coctails and Pate between us, both were excellent. Mains were beef or port of which we had both between us. They came with a massive home made yourshire and good portion of meat, roast potatoes and a big portion of veg on the side and was very good value for money. We did also have an evening meal which we didn't enjoy so much hence only 4 stars, but could of just been what we ordered so would give it a 2nd chance for an eventing meal next time we in Newquay.

We turned up quite late and the staff were very friendly and were still able to prepare dinner for us! We had delicious food with great service. Traditional English style pub.
