We loved our stay of 2 nights for a wedding, our room was amazing an awesome balcony and the beautiful view. The only downside is the noise from Berties but being in the thick of things is a very small price to pay. Enjoyed spending time in the pool and sauna, and had a lovely breakfast. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Set centrally so perfect for enjoying Newquay so will definitely be coming back. thank you.

Room Tip: 117 is a great sized family room with balcony giving great sea views and a lovely bathroom with show...

We had a room with a seaview, which was clean, but it didn't smell great... Old carpet etc.
The staff was very disappointing. We arrived 20 mins earlier and the receptionist said we had to wait, as our room was not ready, she even did not ask for our name, so how she knew that I don't know. Also she wanted to charge us a double price for the parking. When I showed her a printed reservation, she said that our price was the correct one, but did not apologise.
We had 2 breakfasts there and I cannot remember if I had to wait such a long time to be served even in a busy restaurant.
I asked for some tea at least, and my tea came cold. We waited 25 mis to be served and asked the staff a few times to come to our table, but we noticed that everyone else was in the same situation. So on the second day we were a bit more patient.
Next day I ordered porridge, which was a bit cold and hard. I asked for a cup of hot milk and honey (twice), but never got it.
I would not recommend this hotel.

I and my daughter had a twin bedroom - good size, good bed and very clean. The bathroom was nice and very clean, too.

The staff was very polite and frindly.

The breakfast was good, and the restaurant very nice with a view to the sea. One day we also had dinner in the restaurant; the food was very good, but service here a bit slow.

All in all - a very good place to stay, when in Newquay.

This was our first time in Cornwall and Newquay was not for us. The hotel was very comfortable we stayed in the Ocean Suite which was very luxurious. The weather was great so we made full use of the balcony and the stunning views. Breakfast was very good although service was on the slow side. We also had dinner on both nights which was reasonably priced and of reasonable quality and definitely more relaxing than the takeaways and restaurants in the resort. The gym was well equipped and the swimming pool small but better than the sea which was awash with jellyfish. I would recommend the hotel but not the resort.

My husband and I just returned from a quick trip to Cornwall, we stayed at Hotel Victoria for 1 night in the Harbour Suite. The suite was quite expensive due to it being the high season and there has been beautiful weather, increasing already high demand. First impression...the hotel was probably once a beautiful property but has not been maintained to a high standard. It needs some serious renovations.

The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating to the fact that we were travelling with our dog. We really appreciated everyone we encountered while we were there and if it were the staff alone, we'd be coming back.

Unfortunately the staff can't make up for the state of the hotel. The main lobby looks OK. Our room however was another story. We had a GORGEOUS view from the harbour suite, however that can't make up for how much we paid to stay in a room with stains on the carpet, cracks & stains on the walls, spider webs covering the railing and furniture on the deck, and a toilet that took about 4 attempts to get to flush. Not to mention the outside deck was covered in bird poo...I realize the birds will do what they want and that can't be avoided, but it didn't look like anyone had even tried to clean it in a while. The room was pretty shabby and the price did match the quality. Also, as previous reviewers have noted, the room was very hot and could do with larger window openings to air it out.

This property has huge potential (despite the not so pleasant shops across the street) and if someone could come in and put some money into it to bring it up to standard, it would be a great place to stay. For us though, we won't be staying here again.

Where do I start..... It all started quite well. We had booked a romantic getaway in the lovely town of Newquay. We'd heard good things, both about the town itself and the hotel, so we were very excited. After a very long drive from London, we were offered a free upgrade from our superior room (with sea view) to a suite (with a sea view). Naturally, we were over the moon. The young lady serving us at reception was lovely, kind and very helpful - she even called the restaurant we had booked that night and arrange a better table for us, fantastic I must say. This was the highlight of the stay (so far - as I am writing this from the hotel room).

We walked into the elevator, which must have been decorated/installed in the mid-60's since there was carpet on the walls - something I was new to. Moving on from that... We arrived at our suite, which although very spacious and clean, there was a distinct musty smell and the decor is extremely dated. I for one absolutely love quaint little hotels with character, this however is not one of them. It is just plain old. Everything creaks (the wardrobe sounds like it will fall down every time you walk passed it). The bathroom is an exception to this, the bathroom is pretty decent, but the shower spits at you rather than washing over you.

Next, on to the AMAZING breakfast we had. It was amazingly DISAPPOINTING. Breakfast was included with our stay and although we didn't have great expectations, from reading the breakfast menu in our suite, we were expecting to see the following; "Fruit juices, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, croissants, pastries, cold meats & cheese." (Hotel Victoria Menu), together with a cooked breakfast selection. What we in fact found, was a load of tinned fruit in big bowls of water, cheese that had been out of the fridge for a while (discoloured), watery yoghurts and a selection of basic supermarket cereals e.g. Frosties. That was Grrrrrreat! (no pun intended). There were no croissants or pastries, a couple of random apples does not constitute a 'fresh fruit' selection, and also no cold meats. We were served our cooked breakfast (not in a timely fashion) with cold tea and slices of bread (which I am assuming was toast), also cold. Eggs benedict - yeah right! I was served a cold english muffin, with a poached egg that was rubbery like my flip flop and a hollandaise sauce which looked like mustard and had the consistency of paint - not exactly 3* cuisine, more like 1* tripe. The SINGLE slice of smoked salmon was lovely however. My partner's scrambled eggs were quite nice, although I'm pretty sure they served half an egg since she finished her meal in two mouthfuls.

We requested some pastries, as there were none left on the breakfast buffet. We requested these from three different members of staff, all of which said they would bring us some or check if there were any left, none of which came back to inform us one way or the other. We were left waiting in the dining room until breakfast had closed, and everyone had left only to be told (when we begged yet again) that they had run out an hour before! We love starting our day feeling disappointed, especially when we're supposed to be on a romantic getaway celebrating our engagement. We left the dining room feeling hungry, but they don't serve any other food until dinner time, so we are going to spend our money outside of the hotel, probably better that way anyway.

DO NOT BE FOOLED - If you want a nice break by the sea, this IS NOT the place to come. Other than the lady on reception (who goes beyond the call of duty) all members of staff are terrible, a bunch of teenagers who blatantly do not want to be here or care about customer service. Rooms are dated and sea gulls defecate all over the balcony so you can never actually use it.

We still have a day here so we're going to make the most of it, but I wouldn't want anyone else to spend their hard-earned money on this place. Be smart and book one of the other hotels around here, don't make the mistake we did.

Room Tip: Didn't you listed to what I said - DO NOT book a room here!!!!
