“We had the spa to ourselves!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

My partner and myself stayed in the Hotel for 2 nights. Being in the center of town, we though it would be noisy at night (especially with a nightclub next door!) but we couldn't hear a thing! The hotel was very grand, and the dining room was beautiful. The outside area was poor, but inside lovely. The onsite parking really helped and was handy as it was in the centre of town and a short walk from the beach. There was no bath in our room, which was a shame, but had a double shower. The view was over the road as we did not pay for a sea view but was still friendly enough. The staff were helpful, polite, and informative. We had the pool and spa to ourselves on some of the days. The pool has a beautiful outlook over the sea. It was nice to relax in their after a busy day. Would be nice to see the pool/spa area a bit more modernised as some of the sunbeds were old, and would have liked some more toast at breakfast!

Room Tip: I would imagine that the sea-views would be amazing.

Stayed at the Victoria on 24th November for a spa weekend. This just happened to coincide with some of the worse weather I have experienced in Newquay with torrential rain and high winds over Saturday night. The Victoria is and old hotel and as such does have problems with such extreme weather conditions. In our room the window leaked and to their credit rather than just cleaning it up they upgraded us to a suite for our second night as we were inconvenienced.
Our first room (312) was tidy and of a reasonable size with a sea view booked at extra cost. The bathroom was a reasonable size and clean. As I said before due to exceptional weather conditions there were issues with the curtains and window.
The suite was excellent. It had a seating area with access to a balcony and a separate bedroom, with on suite bathroom and shower. Both rooms had complementary tea and coffee facilities flat screen TV’s etc.
The hotel included a Spa treatment in the price of the weekend. We both chose a back and neck massage which was very relaxing. We also used the pool and small sauna. There is also a small gym for those who like to keep up their levels of fitness on their weekend away.
Breakfast and dinner was served in the restaurant on the ground floor. The quality of the food and service were very good. At breakfast there were a good choice of cereals and fruit followed by a full English style breakfast or a few more specialised items at extra cost. At dinner there were at least 5 choices for each course followed by coffee etc. Breakfast was included in the spa deal and dinner was between £15 to £20 depending on the number of courses you consumed.
All the members of staff we came into contact with were attentive, friendly and very helpful a real credit to the hotel.
Overall with the exception of the weather a great weekend at a good price. We have already booked again to visit in February 2013.

Room Tip: The suites on the 4th Floor a excellent

A magnificent hotel with great sea views. Full breakfast in lovely dining room. Rare to see such class anymore. Only probelm was that I had requested a room on a high floor which I did not get. Even on the first floor the view was great

A lovely Victorian Hotel very friendly and helpful Staff, breakfast first class. room bit too hot for me and tele could do with an update otherwise no complaints and would recommend. The hotel would be perfect for a family break or the surfer for even in November they must have been 40 or so.

This hotel was really like staying in Newquay 20 years ago. Yes it's in a fab position , yes the staff are polite and friendly ,yes it's inexpensive, but there are still carpets in the bathrooms ! It is fine for a night away in a central location but really don't expect much due to the fact it is so dated. The showers are shocking. There is, however, lots of fun to be had taking photosy on the amazing staircases.

Just spent the weekend at The victoria Hotel Newquay with our friends which we had booked through groupon. as you walk through the main door you are reminded of a bygone age with a grand staircase chandeliers and large reception rooms. The receptionist on arrival was not at all talkative and didn't see the joke that my friend had made by being friendly but then we all have bad days. The two rooms we were allocated had good sea views clean and tidy as was the on-suite. The furniture was in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The hotels lounge area was quite magnificent with chandeliers and several sofa's to lounge in. There were two dining rooms both very splendid one which had great views of the sea and beach although the later was not in use other than for a private party on the saturday. The full breakfast was a bit of a let down on the first day although it looked good it had little taste I think because it was probably already made up and kept warm and I mean warm not hot. However on the next day the four of us ordered scrambled egg with bacon this was a lot better and we all enjoyed it a lot more than the full English. On the saturday night there was a childrens Halloween party in the main bar with probably every child under 10 from Newquay. We popped in and only had one drink which was not cheap 2 largers and 2 tonic waters £14 so we crossed the road to weatherspoons. The indoor pool is excellent. Although we were on the second floor the thumping of music through the night which I am not sure if it came from the hotel or Berties nightclub next door did keep us awake. The receptionist when we checked out was 1st class an improvement on the one that
had booked us in. All in all not a bad stay but also not a great stay.

Stayed one night, great staff, small old rooms. Furniture in rooms is decrepit, Goodwill would reject it. Furniture in public areas is OK. Included breakfast was OK and worth the price (free). The area surrounding the hotel is walkable and kinda beach T Shirt shoppy.

Room Tip: Who knows?
