The hotel is beautiful, and the staff, without exception, brilliant. We stayed here at the recommendation of friends, who we came with this time. Their room was lovely, we paid £12 less and our room just didn't compare! To make it worse we were in an interconnecting room and the room next door had two men staying, part of a golfing weekend I believe. So, their alarm call at 6am woke us! They then talked loudly - which they should be able to, but very disturbing for us, and not what I expect when I pay £169 a night.
Unfortunately our spa experience was even worse. This should be a calm, relaxing atmosphere, but a family were in the pool with their three children. The toddlers were allowed to run around, shouting, and were in and out the sauna and steam room and jacuzzi.
Obviously these were unfortunate experiences and our overall impression of the hotel was a good one. We ate in the main restaurant one night and it was superb. Breakfast was great, and the cocktails in the bar delicious.
I would certainly advise anyone booking to ask for an updated room though and not one with an interconnecting door.

I would like to firstly thank you for taking time to post a review on the forum. I am delighted that you found the hotel, food and service to your expectations. I understand your comments regarding the interconnecting room; this was indeed unfortunate as the guests next door were early risers. This is something that we are addressing in our refurbishment of the hotel and in the meantime should this ever occur we have twenty four hour porter service whereby we will be able to move you another room should you be disturbed. With regards to the pool, we have taken your comments on board and will be introducing “child swimming times”. This means guests with children will have allocated times when they are able to swim as a family and there will be other times in the day where adults only will be in the Wellness Area.
I certainly hope you choose to stay at The Headland again, we have many exciting projects planned starting with our new Spa and Gym which will be opening this summer. It will be lovely to welcome you back.

This is a gorgeous, elegant hotel with overtones of 30s glamour and possibly the friendliest staff on the entire riviera...and yet I can't help but feel that it could be a genuinely superb international destination. Even the royals stayed here...back in 1911...and they've probably coasted on that as the continent opened up and the demand for elite coastal hotels evaporated. So. Ignore the slightly Travel-Inn decor and carpets and such, focus on the marble and brass and polished wood, and revel in some seriously good service.

We did indeed have Royalty stay at The Headland and they were not disappointed! English seaside holidays I hope are on the up, we may not be able to compete with the continent weather-wise but we do have a fantastic location with views that any country would envy. Our staff take enormous pride in their work and this is reflected in the service that you mention. Thank you very much for taking time to review The Headland; I hope you will stay with us again.

The 40 classic cars with their eighty occupants visited the hotel for a short coffee and refreshment stop whilst en route to Cape Cornwall having commenced their journey six days earlier at Cabo da Roca, Portugal. The staff looked after all in an efficient manner with many suggesting that they would re-visit the hotel when more time was available.

Room Tip: Rooms were not taken on this occasion.

It was indeed a spectacular sight and an honour for us too. I am glad that everyone was suitably refreshed during their long journey and especially pleased to hear that members of the group were so impressed with The Headland that they would like to book to stay with us. I certainly hope we have the pleasure of their company again. Thank you for you review, with best wishes from the Headland team.

Another return trip back to the headland cottages, this year with a nearly walking one year old, so we chose a cottage all on one level so as not to worry about stairs etc. Waterside 1 is tucked round the back and was spacious, had an enclosed garden and was lovely and quiet. Despite being described as only having a sea glimpse, from the patio the views were surprisingly good. Everything you needed for a self catering stay was provided (I believe you can hire cots and highchairs though we brought our own), and the facilities in the hotel fantastic. We'd particularly like to thank the terrace restaurant for being so accommodating and providing our daughter with extra small meals!
We had a very lazy week, but hotel is perfectly positioned for getting out and about exploring. The beach is lovely though sadly not warm enough for sitting out for long. Even so we had a lovely relaxing week and hope to be back again.

Room Tip: Waterside 1 is perfect with a toddler as garden enclosed and all on one level. And its very quiet and peaceful.

Thank you very much for reviewing The Headland. I am delighted to read your thoughts and comments and very pleased that we were able to accommodate your family suitably for your individual needs. The cottages are very well situated and designed to suit a range of different requirements and they are always so popular with families who, like yourselves enjoy the self-catering aspect we offer and also use the hotels amenities. I shall certainly pass your gratitude on to The Terrace staff that catered so well for the little one. That is what we are here for – to ensure the guests have everything they could possible need. I hope that you will choose to stay with us again; it is unfortunate that we cannot guarantee the warm weather however as a rather tempting alternative we have a lovely terrace which looks out over Fistral so you can still enjoy the beach in the warm and dry - without getting sand between your toes!

We have just returned from our second visit to the Headland Hotel. It's a fantastic location, just a 5 minute walk into Newquay and right on Fistral Beach.

Our one big downside was the fact that our room could be made into an adjoining room.. This meant we were woken up at 7am when the man next door woke up and started talking! The sound carried very well through the thin wall and woke us both mornings! If we were to stay here again I would definitely request not to have an interconnecting room for this reason!

The location is a major bonus, great for the fact that you don't have to pay for parking and can walk to reach any of the Newquay beaches or restaurants.

The spa facilities are also fantastic. And the surf shop in the hotel is very reasonably priced!

Thank you for your review of The Headland. I am sorry to hear that you were woken up by the person in the room next to you. We always endeavour to do our utmost to ensure guests comfort at all times and I thank you for bringing this to our attention. It is certainly something that we will look into as a priority. We take guest feedback very seriously, and had this been mentioned during the stay it would have been possible to have moved you to another room with little disruption to your stay. I am pleased however, that you did enjoy you time away and that you found our hotel facilities and location very pleasing. We have quite possibly the best location in Newquay, we are indeed walking distance to the town and all it’s amenities and Fistral beach is just a stone’s throw away. The Wellness Area that incorporates the swimming pool is to be a new Spa ready to open later this year and we will also have a brand new Gym therefore leisure time at The Headland will soon be even more enticing! I hope you join us again.
