They had already got £250 for 3 days hire and I went in at 4.38pm on our last day to add my son for suit hire as he’d joined us for 1 night - Ann’s Cottage supervisor said I’d have to pay for full day for 1hour 20mins (not the hour rate) even though I said he’d not be able to hire it to anyone for the remaining 20 minutes of the day - shop closes at 6pm. AVOID AND GO FOR THE REASONABLE PEOPLE WHO OFFER CUSTOMER FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVES NOT THIS MONEY GRABBING SET UP

Took a walk over to Polzeath from Padstow and was a bit disappointed in the area. Facilities were awful and there was a poor selection of cafes, etc. The staff in the shops were a lot less friendly than in Padstow but glad we saw it for ourselves so we won’t have to do the walk again. Looks like the beach is ideal for surfers though.

Polzeath has been a family favourite of ours since childhood. The beach is large and great in all weathers. You can walk along the cliff to Daymer Bay and then onto Rock. Parking is plentiful so although you may have a wait a short time you will find stress free parking. Dogs are allowed on the beach at certain times of the year and the Oyster Catcher (just up the hill towards Daymer) is dog friendly and perfect for lunch and a pint of Rattler.

Crowded at peak times. Stunning Cornish surfy beach. Walk a little further to find rock pools and quieter areas. Great surf, several hire places and cafes. Easy parking and access to beach.

We went to Polzeath for the first time yesterday August BH.
Beach and hills scenic but cars on the beach?! What an eyesore. Such a shame. I come from Croyde, a similar size beach and small village, very popular, and thank goodness no cars on the beach.

Great beach where even on a bad surf day, there are still waves to practice on. Great for families with a nice range of small local shops for food and drink. Only downside is no dogs allowed in the summer.

It was drizzling with rain when we arrived at Polzeath. Even though the weather was lousy the place was busy. We were really lucky with parking as we bagged the only remaining spot. I would imagine that on a sunny day parking would be tricky.

The beach was really busy. Loads of cars were down on the beach and it was full of surfers.

There are a few surf shops to hire or buy gear.

We had our 9 year old boy with us. He had a ball in the waves. But he couldn’t swim as there are too many surfers and it was a bit dangerous to swim between them. This really is a surfers beach.

It was a very cool day. The ice cream vans scattered around the beach sell incredible ice cream.

There’s loads of cafes and restaurants dotted around the place.

Great Day out.
