Description: He living is easy in The Living Space. Here you can eat, meet and greet, or just lounge on the sofas and gaze at the view. A wide open yet cosy place, anything goes in the Living Space - a bit like the beach it overlooks. The open kitchen serves food that is fresh and inventive. On the menu are platters for sharing, seasonal salads, hearty dishes and plates for under-eights. Dishes draw on the time of year, combining flavours that are Cornish, traditional British and European. The bar serves coffees, cocktails and cream teas. All of it you can have at tables, in comfy chairs or on the decked terrace outside. The Living Space is a relaxing place, where you can take time to unwind by the sea.

We dined at this restaurant/balcony twice during our recent visit to Cornwall.
It's a stunning location with a lovely decking/balcony area to watch the world go by on Watergate Bay beach.

The food was excellent, a nice mix of lighter meals and a proper meal, but as previously mentioned there's a lack of seafood on the menu, but the daily special had a seafood option.

The staff were friendly but often difficult to get their attention, but then it was busy when we visited.

My only minor gripe, was that when we visited on the Sunday for a lazy coffee and lunch the weather was poor and as a result the restaurant was manic and with wooden floors it was quite noisy. To make matters worse a lot of children were running around screaming which did impact the chilled out vibe, and I felt sorry for the poor staff trying to dodge running children.

After a recent visit to Watergate Bay Hotel for a meal in the Living Space restaurant, I cannot stress enough how disappointing an experience it was. We waited ages to be served and we were not alone. The restaurant was in a complete state of disarray and the staff were pleasant but completely disorganised. Was there anyone in charge? I felt I should take the role on and would do a better job. Whilst the staff were well meaning and pleasant, they were clearly poorly trained. Indeed the waitress suggested the hotel were very particular about who they employed! To add insult to injury we stayed at the hotel last year and had a meal booked in the main restaurant. We waited an hour for our meal, having been informed the kitchen was really busy. I suspect with the amount of hype surrounding the hotel there would be sufficient staff to cope. It seems the more the hotel charges, the worse the service becomes. Full of over indulged children tearing around as long as their pretentious parents can chat with not an ounce of regard for other diners. Certainly having dined at the hotel for a second time to give it the benefit of the doubt, we shall certainly not be back. Grateful not to have stayed after all and beating a hasty retreat to The Scarlet the next time we visit Cornwall.

This place looks great, serves lovely food and easily caters for families. What more could you want?
Loved the decor, the setting and views so they were off to a good start, but, well, we're at Watergate Bay, there's surely going to be a but. No! Thankfully not.
The staff were lovely, helpful and efficient. Completely relaxed about our girls suddenly deciding that they'd like to share an adult steak meal (parents meanwhile picking themselves up off the floor - when did our cutesy girls turn into carnivores) Meals came with extra plate & cutlery for the girls to share.
Food really was delicious and plenty of it so we ended up sharing puddings too.
We loved it here. Will definitely go back and even looking into staying

Never stayed at this hotel, but hope to one day.
But can rate the restaurant it is both very classy and relaxed.
(Unless you are minted, skip that pretentious restaurant 'fifteen' nearby.)
The best place to take in a sunset overlooking watergate bay from the outside lounge/bar/dining area.
The swimming pool looks great too!
Just wish I could have taken a dip after the walk from Newquay.
Ht tip: If you are on a tighter budget check out the trevellis b&b.
Stayed there and found it to be great for a budget break.

The sun was out. The terrace is amazing. The service is random - sometimes prompt and helpful and other times slow and confused. The food is OK although limited.

Once you're in Watergate Bay you've really only got a few choices: a walk up burger bar (OK but overwhelmed during the day), Jamie's 15 (excellent), an OK pub (Phoenix) and the Beach Hut (difficult to get a table at without booking in advance). My suspicion is the management at the Watergate Bay hotel can afford to be complacent about the restaurant as they've got a captive audience with the limited alternatives and the hotel guests.

It's eye wateringly expensive and doesn't live up to the prices charged. Which is a shame as the location is awesome.
