Had an absolutely lovely evening here with my husband and 6 month old little boy, atmosphere was great and really friendly, great music and amazing food, big shout out to the chef Chris your food was delicious and such a great all round menu, the ladies behind the bar were lovely....good luck for the future to the lady carrying a baby:-) also very we'll equipped here with very high standard high chair which made our life so much easier feeding the little man...beautiful location also, shame we live so far away else we would most definitely be locals here:-) 10/10 for sure

We spent a week at Holywell Bay and walked down most nights for a quick drink, the staff were always welcoming and there is a good selection of beers and ciders available. As we were blessed with beautiful weather we sat outside enjoying the spectacular views across the dunes and the kids loved playing with their newly made friends.

On our last night we decided to eat here and we were so glad we did as the food is delicious. My wife had the meatballs which were delicious and I had the surf and turf from the specials board, the prawns were amazing, the calamari was perfect and the steak was cooked to absolute perfection, probably one of the best I've ever had. The kids meals were also of a generous size and both my son and daughter enjoyed them. I don't really have a sweet tooth but the desserts looked too tempting so we indulged, the sticky toffee pudding is out of this world and a lollipop for the little ones just adds a nice little touch.

We chose to sit in the conservatory area by ourselves as my youngest at 18 months is into everything at the moment and this was ideal for him to crawl about without disturbing the other diners, the staff popped in on numerous occasions to make sure we were OK and said he was most welcome in the main area but we were more than happy where we were. It's difficult for staff to strike a balance between seemingly not caring and being too in your face but here they have it spot on. The manageress is also lovely and took time out to have a chat with us.

A decent range of beers, very friendly and welcoming staff, spectacular views from the beer garden and delicious food. As previously said, try to look past the one or two negative reviews and try it for yourself, our only disappointment was that we ate on our last night so didn't have time to go back but we definitely will later this year when we return to Cornwall.

“Fab food, lovely staff”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

Having not been to Holywell Bay before we were not sure what to expect - we were not disappointed, lovely village, beautiful beach and two pubs to choose from, the closest to the beach being St.Pirrans Inn. We arrived at the pub and it was really busy but the staff were so helpful and accommodating. It is a quirky, traditional yet cool pub, catering for families and couples alike. The menu is extensive and the wine reasonably priced. We liked the idea of calamari as a starter to share but it was a main menu dish - to our delight this was not too much trouble and the kitchen prepared this for us - a huge portion each. Great value for money and friendly service from all the staff.

“Poor food and service”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

I really used to like this place, but when we visited in April were sadly disappointed.

The menu is very limited and the service was rushed, as soon as we had finished our starters the main courses arrived on stone cold plates.

Used to be a busy pub/restaurant but there were only a handful of people in the place on a Saturday night.

Mr. Scale, and whom ever may read this reply, thank you for your kind review, and yes you are quite right the pub has change since you last came in, which must have been over 5 years ago. The inn before was an old school drinking house, with pool tables, slot machines and a dart board, now it is based around eating and families. The food we serve here is all cooked on site and does not come in packets ready for the microwave or a deep fat fryer. There are pubs not to far from us that do cater for people that choose that kind of dining along with all the machines mentioned above. We are NOT a fine dinning Michelin starred inn like the Tom Kerridge's, Gordon Ramsey's or Pierre whites of this world, so please do not expect that from us, however If you are looking for good honest properly cooked food, all prepared in our kitchens, then this is perhaps the place to come. If you read many of the reviews before yours we seem to have pleased many people that do come in, but we also know we cannot and never will be able to please everybody.
As for your complaint regarding the time between your starters and main course, the majority of our customers are only too pleased to receive their food promptly, and prefer not to sit around waiting 25 minutes between courses. We can of course delay your mains, but are only able to know your particular requirements if you tell us at the time. Our plates are always under the hot lights before they are served, and i refute the fact that you said they were cold, this is never the case.
Its very easy for customers to eat their meals, tell their waitress everything is fine when they are table checked, leave smiling and then leave a scathing review when they get home.
We give customers every opportunity to tell us if they have a problem and we are always willing to put any problems right if we can.
We serve over 150 meals per night and 99% of our visitors leave happy, but there will always be the occasional 1% that we cannot please.
We were given a bad review recently by a customer who complained that we didn't serve enough "seafood" dishes on our menu, we have 8 on our menu!! how many more can we put on before we become a "Seafood" restaurant? you also said it was empty on a saturday night. I'm not sure how that is possible as we have had the busiest start to the season since we opened 5 years ago and often have a wait on tables as we are so popular !..very strange?
The reason for this is that our staff work tirelessly to please our visitors and get very upset when they are criticised unfairly. As a team we have decided NOT to read these reviews anymore, nor to reply to them, and to step away from this site. We would rather concentrate on producing good food, good service and help people enjoy their holidays.
For one last time....we are a pub, not a fine dining establishment and we hope that you will come down and have a great time with us, day or night.
We welcome children, dogs and all who want to visit us!
Thank you,
