Description: There is nothing quite so British as a mini-break to the Cornish coastline, and Beaucliffes is a stellar restaurant in Porth tucked away inside the Porth Veor Manor Hotel that is ideal for romantic mini-break meals for two. With coastal views and a superb modern dining room this restaurant has oodles of nostlagic charm without the decaying decor, and is popular with both daytrippers and locals. Beaucliffe's locally sourced, seasonally changing menu offers a variety of British classics with a noughties twist, and signature dishes include the medallions of Westcountry pork tenderloin with a red cabbage, garlic and lime coleslaw and mustard dressing, and the seared Cornish beef with colcannon mash and Guinness gravy.

Part of our holiday deal (in Watergate Bay) included a dinner at Beaucliffes at a 50% discount. So for us this was very good value; for those paying the full amount, it would be quite expensive. Since this restaurant, and the Porth Veor Manor Hotel in which it is located, are quite highly rated in the Newquay area, we booked a table there for our first evening.

The setting of the hotel and the views from the dining room are beautiful. The restaurant itself is a very pleasant and airy room. Classy. A pity about the artificial flowers, even if they were better than most.

Our starters were mushroom and leek vol au vent (very good) and grilled sardines (OK). Both unfortunately had a weary (not fresh) and undressed salad garnish. Strange. Our main course was a whole lemon sole (good), and a whole gurnard in a truly delicious sauce (excellent). For pudding, we had a treacle tart (nothing out of the ordinary) and a white chocolate and raspberry torte (excellent).

The service was excellent, and the whole experience very enjoyable.

Well worth its reputation. Read about it on Tripadvisor and certainly was not disappointed. Would recommend every time

As part of a deal with Beach Combers Apartments we were lucky enough to have a Cornish Cream Tea, Dinner and Breakfast in this restaurant and we were well impressed with all three. We were scheduled to have our Cream Tea on the second day of our stay however after a four hour drive we rang the hotel to see if they could fit us in a day earlier- which was relatively quick and easy to sort out. The tea itself was lovely and comprised of scones, cornish cream and a choice of tea or coffee.
Our dinner was excellent, the food was piping hot, freshly prepared and as we had children in our group we were given the option of early dining (around 6pm) which was very welcome. I suffer from a severe nut allergy and I was traveling as part of a large group of people which included several fussy eaters. The service we received from the restaurant was exceptional they even tried to contact us before our arrival to ensure they could prepare food which would meet everybody's specification.
Breakfast is well worth the money, with a selection of cereal's and toast as well as a hot food menu from which you can order a typical 'full english'.
The best part of all three dining experiences was quite simply the service we received from our waiter Ernest - he is an absolute credit to the hotel and really couldn't have been more helpful.
Will definitely return to this establishment next time I am in the area.

We had our evening meal. As part of a promotion we had 20% off out bill as we were staying at a sister development, Beachcombers Apartments. Very good service and delicious meal. Very good selection all freshly made.
