Description: The Beach Hut is well known as one of Cornwall's best beach-side hang-outs. Right on the sand at Watergate Bay, it's an easy, relaxed restaurant serving seasonal food amongst the hustle of beach life. Open for breakfast, Sunday brunch, lunch and dinner, the menu is classic. The views are fantastic. Rarely quiet, The Beach Hut is a vibrant venue where the buzz of conversation rivals the sound of the sea. Cornish fish will always be on the daily specials board and the menu is focused around steaks, burgers and shellfish with an emphasis on local, seasonal produce. Try the grilled Cornish rib-eye steak, the pulled pork sandwich or perhaps the Sri Lanka mussels with a side of sweet potato fries and chilli sea salt.

“Very good”
Reviewed August 20, 2014 via mobile

Arrived at the restaurant early, walked through to the " conservatory " for drinks and then shown to our table on time. Food, drinks and service all to a good level but did feel, having eaten there religiously for years that a freshen up in all areas is needed. The menu is very good and enjoyed the mussels starter, the haloumi and roasted vegetables main, by far the highlight though has to be the chocolate browny- superb. Biggest criticism considering the beautiful beach views is the fish of the day being battered and the lack of a good fish being simply grilled. Overall a lovely meal, but definitely book ahead.

“Trendy Beachside Cafe with great food”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

Great spot on Waterside Bay with great varied menu for children and adults from crab spagetti to fish and chips, mussels to burgers. The extreme hot chocolate is a must have.

Great for nice lunch with the kids and early evening beers and cocktails.

“Mixed review here!”
Reviewed August 16, 2014

Luckily my friend's 18 yr old son did have his ID but the waitress was a little stiff in the way she handled it. We visited a couple of years ago when he drank beer and wasn't asked then! Lack of flexibility with my young daughter who wanted Humous for her starter and was told no. Disappointing fish of the day - fish and chips! Don't get me wrong we had a lovely evening. Food was good but don't become too complacent relying on the fantastic location!

“A catastrophic evening”
Reviewed August 14, 2014 via mobile

Booked The Beach Hut several weeks ago in the hope that we would be celebrating our daughter's A' Level results. On arrival at The Beach Hut, they refused to allow our 18 year old daughter to join us in a glass of wine with the meal as we did not have her passport to prove that she was 18. In fact, by law, she is allowed to have wine with her parents, with a meal, aged 16. The manageress lectured us in a pedantic and embarrassing way in front of other guests. She effectively implied that we were lying and we had no option but to leave. Our celebration was ruined.
We had by the way eaten at The Beach Hut with friends a few nights before and no ID was requested for any of the teens who drank wine all evening. The food was pretty average - overcooked fish and chips and greasy calamari. You sense they really don't have to try too hard and it really shows.
