“They don't own a cooker”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

The decor and service are very good here and the restaurant is very clean. However, I ordered Moussaka and it had clearly been microwaved. It was swimming in grease and tasted like it had been warmed up from frozen. My husband had the lamb which was ok. The chef, who can be seen from the restaurant, spent most of his time glaring at customers whilst putting things in and out of three microwaves and waiting for them to heat up. I didn't see him move from the microwaves the whole time. It also cost £11.50 for this meal and £13.50 for the lamb. I could have had a microwaved meal from weatherspoons for £5. The waitress was very friendly, but we wouldn't recommend it or go again.

This was our 3rd choice on a rainy Monday night in Newquay as the other the restuarants were closed! We were the only 2 people in the place throughout our meal and I felt quite uncomfortable; initially ther was not even any background music on. The tables were tightly packed though I imagine it to be noisy when busy and no chance of any sort of conversation where you can't be overheard!!!

Although the food was fine, my Moussaka was bland and I felt like it was the weekends reheated left overs! My husband had Stifado was again was fine - not exciting but acceptable.

By the end of the meal the owner had arrived and came to speak to us and then offered us complimentary Ouzo or Brandy which we declined.

We happened to pass the following evening and noticed again just 1 couple in there - off season I suppose but we went to Senor Dicks that evening which was positviely packed in comparison and therefore at least had an atmosphere.

“Fresh tasting authentic Greek food”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

We wanted something a bit different last night so tried this and were not disappointed. We've only been to Greece once, to a wedding in Lindos, Rhodes, and the food and atmosphere reminded us of our stay there. The decor was good, the staff and service was excellent and we found it good value for money. We'd been slightly worried by a recent scathing review, but our fears were totally unfounded. Would definitely visit again and recommend to friends.

“Wish we hadn't gone in - overpriced, bland Microwave food”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

One to avoid - the starters were constantly interrupted by hearing the consistent ping of the microwave - unfortunately this was our overpriced mains being reheated! Bland and disappointing - annoying to pay £13 for a reheated ready meal. No garnish/sides or sauces. Plain and tasteless - where was the flavour?/the herbs? - I've tasted much Greek food and this was so far removed from it they shouldn't call themselves a Greek Taverna.
It says on the menu that the recipes are based on their Grandmamas - I'm wondering how they mastered the 'art' of reheating microwave food in their youth?
It was genuinely painful authorising a card transaction for £45 for a shared starter and dessert, two appallingly dull mains, a beer and a bottle of water.
Very disappointing to be rushed out of a 3 course meal on your birthday - we were only there 50 minutes and had arrived at 9.15! Wished we'd just walked on by....waste of money.
