This quirky little guest house was a fantastic place to stay. The decor is unusual and interesting, well worth a nosey around the house and looking at what's on the walls. Elliot the owner was very welcoming and he makes the best breakfast I have ever eaten. When I go back to Newquay I will certainly be staying there again, I only wish we could have stayed longer.

We have stayed with Elliot, at the Avondale for 3 years running now, twice in summer and once in April. On all occasions we always feel very welcome, the price is reasonable and there is generous discounting for children of which we have 4 (ages now 15,13, 12 and 7) so take 3 rooms, most recently on the 1st floor. One at the back and the two adjoining rooms at the front. The rooms are always clean, have everything you need (including free wifi). The rooms are always warm enough and the double glazing keeps the noise down and the location is very handy for the town and beaches, all within easy walking distance.
Elliot cooks a lovely hot full English and there is always fresh juice and proper coffee.
The lounge is also available with widescreen telly with a computer too, should you need one.
Newquay is a brilliant base for exploring the whole of Cornwall, and Elliot will recommend places to eat, see and we can personally recommend the Bowgie Inn which overlooks Crantock Bay (accessible via Crantock village) just beware food is not served all day (check times before).
We will no doubt be back 2011

I have stayed at this B&B for eight years on the run, firstly as a place very close to the town centre for stag weekends and later as our anual lads jolly away from our other halves. In terms of value, location, free parking, decent breakfast, cleanliness and personal service, you really cannot do much better. I have also stayed with my family and have always felt safe with an adjoining room that my kids cannot get out of - without coming through our bedroom of course.
Would recommend for all types as a good B&B that does everything a 34 quid a night B&B should do - Thanks Elliott.

The Avondale has, deliberately, cultivated an olde worlde charm. The latterday period pieces of luggage, furniture and ornaments suggest an earlier era while the modern facilities - en suite, TV, coffee maker in dining room - make sure that you have the expected comforts. The location is mere minutes from the sea and town centre and the surf was up for those who are keen. The owner, Elliot, cooks a great full English, is very friendly and can recommend some good pubs, restaurants and nightlife if you are so disposed. Once in your room, the sounds of the town aren't audible so you can get a good nights sleep ready for the next day.

We stayed at Room 7 for two consecutive nights. It's a double en-suite bedroom, of an average size, but apparently with the best sea view out of the 8 rooms in the B&B. The room got pretty bright at around 7am as there were just ordinary (not black out) curtains. The design of the rooms and the B&B in general was pretty dated and also tired-looking, but at least it's clean. The bed was a small double, although with clean sheets, but the bed springs felt as though they were digging into my body - not very comfy, be warned. But since we were quite tired after a whole day of driving and walking, it's not difficult to fall asleep. The heating worked quite well, so it's never cold/chilly in the room. The en-suite came with a weak shower and no toiletries except for hand soap in a dispenser. They offer both continental and full English breakfast. I enjoyed the English breakfast very much! The car park had a limited and awkward space for about 4 cars max, but that would mean 2 of the cars would not be able to move out unless the other 2 cars were out of the way. The B&B owner Elliot was a lovely man and gave us some tips to where to go for sightseeing and meals out. There's a cat and a dog which were kept outside in a little patio area where you can see them in the morning while having breakfast. All in all, Avondale is a very average B&B, nothing "wow" about it.
