We have stayed at hendra many times however this time we stayed in a glamping pod and it just added that extra special touch to our holiday and camping experience. It was easy, more convenient & less packing lol. The pods are well located to all amenities & very reasonably priced especially as we went during school holidays and expected to pay twice as much as we did. Everything was provided down to the BBQ stand and the dust pan and brush...very impressed. we used the outdoor pool a couple of times which was a bit chilly at first however was fine once you got used to it, we did not use the indoor pool as we only wanted a swim and the slides etc were not for us. The evening entertainment was ok, we really enjoyed bingo, the hypnotist, open mic night and the comedian however, the other things were not for us and the club/bar did get very busy, this did not spoil our holiday though as we are not really going out people, boring I know lol. We ate in the restaurant once and the food was really nice and reasonably priced, the shop was convenient and open till gone 9pm most nights and there was also a pancake man in an evening at the weekends which was amazing, I recommend the white chocolate and raspberry sauce mmmm wish I could have one now lol. Didn't use the chip shop or pizza restaurant so can't really comment on those but we did use the arcades a few times which were good. Most of all, staff were very friendly and efficient. Anyway that's enough of me going on, all in all a fab hol, loved the glamping pods and feel glamping is the way forward... No going back to a tent now lol, cnt wait to go glamping next year!!!

Stayed on electric pitch on holly field, could do with a bit more lighting at night but a large spacious pitch..pool was good for the kids also open to non residents but it was only open to hendra guests on a particular day as it was really busy, changing rooms were cleaned regular as we're our toilet/shower blocks and staff were very friendly, entertainments team were fab especially Dan nothing was too much trouble for him..the kids hope he's there next year when we return, plenty to do on site day and night, lovely food in the tavern but there can be a wait at busy times, the only complaint the males in our party had was there was no sky sports(football) on in the tavern for the t-time kick offs so they were going off site to pub down the road to watch it and have a beer as we're quite a few other hendra guests, they would of preferred to stay on hendra and put money behind there bar, first aiders were quick to respond when I unfortunately needed them and went out of there way to make sure I and the rest of our party were ok...all in all a great holiday and will be back next year with more of the family

Arrived on the August Bank Holiday at 12pm was allocated tent pitch and given plenty of info about the park and facilities the pitch for the tent was neat and tidy, plenty of room, ad had the electric hook up point we had requested, the shower block and toilets were amazing i have in my whole life never seen toilets and showers this clean on a holiday park the staff were very helpful and polite.
for peace of mind there are security guards that patrol the campsite and there there is a mobile number you can call in an emergency, there was one rowdy group that were soon quietened down when security paid them a polite visit.
As for the facilities, there is loads for the whole family to do the pools are great the shop well stocked there are a fish and chip and pizza place on site as well as a restaurant and a skate park for the kids as well as a play park. my only complaint is the cost of the food was high and the clubhouse was too small and very hot

Room Tip: ask for a pitch away from main road and entrance as deliveries arrive very early and will wake you

Arrived on fri aug 30 th for 3 nights, check in was at 4 pm(how ridiculous ) as we hadn't paid the £25 to check in at 1pm, bed linen £20, and we had to make our own beds, never had either of those issues in any caravan we've stayed in before, and £50 bond which you get back by cheque 10 days after departure( again ridiculous). Also we were only given 2 pillow cases for our double bed although there were 4 pillows, reception told husband you only get 2!!!!....eventually we were given 2 more, in sure they would usually charge people for extra pillow cases unless they complain. The pool side bar/restaurant floor had food strewn everywhere, no way were we eating there!!!!......The outdoor pool was really cold, even my hubby who usually doesn't mind wouldn't go in. The indoor pool was fine. The caravan itself was clean although I had to wash the glasses, bowls etc again as they were greasy. The bedrooms are quite small but have everything you need, the bathroom shower is nice and powerful. I was quite suprised there was no decking as we were staying at the sites top caravan, again a first for the wrong reasons. The evening entertainment was good, good bands and stuff for the kids. Hendra is well located to explore the beautiful near by beaches. I would not give this 5 stars, a 3 would be our maximum, we won't return here but will visit the area again for sure.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback. We have over 300 caravans on site, so that is why there is a 4 pm check-in time. We do offer an early check-in, as you say, so the Accommodation Team do these first and then the rest. You can check-in and use facilities beforehand and Reception gives you a number to call to see if it is ready before 4 pm.

We did ask customers if they would be interested in a bed making service for an extra charge and the majority said no, so we didn’t go ahead with it. We also do not advertise that we have decking in any caravans, though it may be something that we do in the future.

The key deposit, we find, keeps up the standard of the caravan which is why it is charged and we are sorry it was a problem for you.

We will pass on your comments about the linen and pool temperature. Also we thank you for your comments about the entertainment and cleanliness of the van.

Arrived on Saturday 17th August, on a very dreary and wet afternoon, and was very happy with caravan, which was clean and attractive. Plenty of space in our 6 berth caravan even with 4 adults and 2 children, BUT.....The twin beds were as hard as rock, and the sofa bed dipped in the middle, which meant hubby and I were rolling onto each other and waking each other up all night. Our caravan was only put in last year, so I dread to think what another year of wear and tear will do to it.....The shop closed at 8pm on most days, and was a bit pricey. Better to use the Morrisons just down the road, but it is the most crowded supermarket I have ever been to, so try to avoid at Bank holidays and weekends because it's quite stressful..........Now to the pool....It IS a rip off! Hendra do give you a discounted price if you're staying on site, and they act like they are doing you a favour by doing this. I've never had to pay to use the pool on any other site, and they also invite outsiders to use the pool, which means it is over-crowded most of the time. They'll chuck you out after an hour and a half too!. We only used the indoor pool once in the whole 2 weeks we were there. Outdoor pool is free, but cold if weather is anything less than perfect. .......Entertainment - Bingo? Seriously, Bingo??? Not my idea of entertainment, but we had to sit through it on the one night we used the club, because my kids wanted to see the ventriloquist (who was very good, even if he went slightly over-kill on the bottom jokes!). The bar was over-crowded, drinks were way over-priced, and they try to flog the kids light up toys that are likely to break within 24 hours and cost £6.50! And if you have a baby in a pushchair, you're not allowed to sit in the main area, but right at the back, where there is absolutely no atmosphere, and you feel like a leper..... Mario's pizza - £10 per pizza, very tasty and a guy that sings and plays guitar (he was very good!), so a nice place to sit while the kids play in the playground nearby. The playground was so-so, but it was the ONLY place where my kids could play safely as NOBODY sticks to the 5mph speed limit not even the staff! In fact most people seem to do about 20mph, which is so dangerous with little ones walking around.......On the last day, we decided to get breakfast at the tavern, thinking this would be a quicker option than cooking it ourselves, as we wanted to make the most of our last day in Cornwall. BIG MISTAKE! We had to wait almost an hour for them to bring us our bacon and eggs. And when we complained, the girl simply said, " Everyone has to wait that long!" then stormed off shaking her head! The family next to us had been waiting nearly an hour and a half! We spoke to the manager who did have the courtesy to apologize and made some excuse about it being crowded. But it was crowded every day, and this place seemed constantly under-staffed and a bit grubby. Lunches were okay, but only just. Cutlery never seemed very clean. I'm sure the length of time you have to wait for food is designed so that your kids will spend as much money as possible in the adjoining arcade. This park advertises itself as a five star holiday. Five star it is NOT! And it's not even near a beach, so I really don't know why people would go back there. They also charged us twice for bedding, but we were too tired to argue with them at the time. It takes more than just a nice caravan to make a holiday. We definitely won't be going back to Hendra!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you would not return to Hendra. We will pass on your comments about the beds to the caravan manufactures.

As we have mentioned in previous reviews the pool is charged because if it was not it would actually create massive queues, much shorter session times and a poorer experience. The Pool is very popular, especially on rainy days, so that is why swims have to be divided into sessions so that everyone gets a turn. The Oasis Pool is one of the only pools with these facilities in the South West which is another reason why it is charged.

As for the Entertainment we put things on that please the majority our guests and many do like Bingo! We are sorry if this was not to your taste.

The Bar prices are similar to other Bars in the area. We are pleased you enjoyed Mario’s and found the entertainment more to your taste here; we want Mario’s to be a chilled out alternative for those, like yourself, who are not so keen on the Cabaret side of entertainment.

We will send a memo to all staff about the speed limit and are sorry you did not feel it was enforced.

As for the Tavern they were experiencing a high demand of orders which was why there was a delay which doesn’t excuse any shortness from our members of staff and we apologise for this

We had a brilliant time here, our caravan was exactly as described, really clean and in a great location. The club at night was really good for my young boys, they loved it so much we were in there every night. The park itself is spotless, I was so impressed. We visited both the pools (indoor and outdoor) and had loads of fun. There was loads of changing cubicles and all were really clean. There is so much to do at this holiday park and would def recommend, I will be going back next year!!

The caravan was basic and if I'm honest wasnt cleaned to the greatest of standards, the sofa's had its fair share of wear and tears too. I paid just over £700 for the week and unfortunatley the caravan didnt meet my modest expectations. Although check-in was speedy, the camp site wasnt great though there was good recycling and refuse points around the camp. The camp shop was as anticipated, highly priced and not the freshest of produce. The club house was not to my liking either sadly, it was very busy and there was not a seat availalbe on the two occasions I went along.

I didnt use the pool, and that was based on the fact that Hendra charged to use it! I doubt I will return.

Dear Guest,

We are sorry to hear the van was not clean enough; if you were to let us know we could have got it cleaned and re-checked, as this is something that should always be up to standards. We are disappointed to hear the entertainment was not for you. We hope you enjoyed Cornwall.
