Having just returned from a four night dbb package had to write as we all agreed that the hotel far exceeded our expectations after reading some previous reviews. We were upgraded free of charge, rooms clean newly refurbished, bathroom was small but functional. Staff were friendly and very helpfull, meals were varied and hot. entertainment was ok. pool was fab. where else can you get someone to go food shopping, cook, serve, wash up, entertain, make your bed, clean your room and smile for less then £50.00 a night ? the hotel is being slowly refurbished and deserves more than it's official 2 star. well done to all managment and staff.

we found the hotel a bit out of town but not aproblem a nice walk or a bus right outside, nice views across the bay, the town is very run down and neglected now a far cry from when we visited when the children were young, we stayed at the hotel with a coach party, the hotel was abit dated but it seemed as if it was being improved, the staff were polite and friendly, adam our waiter at meal times was very helpfull. the rooms were functional but clean the meals we thought were good, with options each day, we enjoyed our stay and would return at a later date. thank you to the hotel and staff.

I recently wrote a review on the Pentire Hotel, Newquay after a disappointing stay during our visit in May this year and at the same time also complained to the management. Their response has been very positive and they have gone a very long way in making amends to us which shows that they do have a concern for the welfare and comfort of their guests. In the end of the day, that is what counts.

I booked this hotel via an offer shown on Zootravel, when I checked the reviews there was a mixed bag but I'd already booked, glad I did as the fuss some people make is not justified in my opinion.
Room we stayed in was 110 which was I guess a family room as it had an adjoining room with 2 single beds in it and it's own TV.
The main bedroom has nice decor, double bed, flat TV, H/dryer etc ensuite bathroom was clean and sufficent shower was a little on the small size but water was hot and plentiful and of a good pressure. Clean towels every day rooms tided fully.
Only a short walk to the nearby Fistral Bay, where all the surfers hang out (very cool), another 5 mins and your in Newquay so not so bad, did get a taxi back as the hotel is set on top of a hill and we didn't fancy the hike, £4 from the town center.
Pool was in the basement and was very clean, warm and looked after, there was also a small sauna in the area which I didn't try really all in all very good. In the basement there was a pool table , table tennis and seating areas and two large Pasma TV's so you could watch your TV there if you wished, this also lead to an outdoor sitting area which was pleasent.
Bar upstairs was well run and not that dear £5 for a pint & 1/2 lager, Friday & Saturday there was entertainment which was not bad.
Staff were very pleasent and efficient.
Meals were spot on, no frills but hot and tasty and not a bad selection to choose from.
All in all for £40 a night DBB per person wecouldn't complain, great value and I would go again tomorrow!!

The children and i had a really nice time in The Pentire hotel My children are aged 5, 4 and 2. The kids were free, there were no restrictions on them, the guest were great, usually older clientel but they were great. The kids were at ease, they made friends with other people. i didn't feel i had to watch them every second. The pool was great for them, great enterainment. The staff were friendly. Overall i had a really good time and the kids are asking when can we go back.

A last minute decision was taking to visit Cornwall. We decided on Newquay as a good base location. We booked into the Pentire Hotel. It was slightly out of town but with beautiful views of the coast below, namely the world famous Fistral Beach. We were not disappointed. We were greeted with a pleasant smile and helpful staff. The bedroom was more than adequate clean and tidy. The hotel seemed to cater for all ages and I was very impressed with the swimming Pool and sauna. It wasn't until I was checkimg out that I realised it was a 2 star hotel! I've stayed in far worse 3&4 star hotels in the past. Great value for money and I am certainly going to return.

We have just returned after a 4 night midweek stay booked through Travelzoo at a low rate for half board. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, but small and decor and furniture was very marked and tired. We could not open the wardrobe fully as one of the twin beds was in the way. The hotel in general is in urgent need of a makeover, even a cost of paint on white paintwork would spruce it up a bit. The hotel also allows dogs to roam freely, and at least 3 times on our 4 night stay I was startled by a huge boxer dog bounding up and down the narrow stairs which had awkward fire doors at top and bottom.
However the cooked breakfast was excellent, always hot and not greasy. The evening meals were not so good, but even my fussy husband who was expecting meat and two veg found something to eat, such as beef and ale pie and scampi/chips. I had veg lasagne and veg curry on 2 night as looked more apetising. I overheard the manger telling some regulars one evening at dinner that he was trying to update the menu to attract more younger guests (most were well over 60, including the coach party). The older guests found the updated menu 'too mucked about with!' The waiter was friendly and chatty, but had a memory like a sieve and regularly forgot our teas and rolls etc.
The 'entertainment' was dire, an out of tune woman singer one night and a cornish singer/entertainer another.
The hotel is in a good location just outside Newquay centre and great walking area.
Overall the Pentire is good value if on a special deal, but I would have been very unhappy if we had paid full nightly rate of £45pp
