“WELL WORTH A VISIT.”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

We visit Cornwall several times a year , and have a place in Mousehole. We always have dinner and/or lunch at the Coastguard. The view over Mounts Bay is just fantastic, as is the service, and the food which is always of the highest standards. We will always return here when we are in Cornwall, as we know the standards will always be maintained.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Old Coastguard Hotel. It is the
perfect place for a retreat. The staff are professional and sensitive as well as the hotel being outstanding in every way.

I highly recommend this hotel for any occasion either on your own or with family & friends. My observation over the last three days confirms that all are made welcome including children & dogs!

Thank you to all the staff especially Leigh & Rose & we look forward to another visit soon!

the staff at the Old coastguard hotel were wonderful, friendly and gracious, it made the stay at the hotel extra special. The hotel food was great, especially the breakfasts.
The gardens and views are outstanding, the rooms are quite basic where facilities are concerned, you have to ask for a TV. The hotel is still being updated but the atmosphere is still friendly and welcoming.

Room Tip: Go for the £120 rooms.

This hotel is a very happy place to be. You will want to return again and again. The food is delectable, the sea views are breathtaking, and the sub-tropical garden lies lush above the rock-pools. And beyond all this bounty, the staff are outstanding. They are cheerful and helpful and really do all they can to make your time with them a break from the noise of modern life. The ethos of the hotel is "the simple things in life done well", they quietly achieve this every day.

What a place to stay for your first time in Cornwall. The Old Coastguard is the first establishment you arrive in after a breathtaking road trip around the headland from Newlyn. The picture post card village is visible from the gardens and terraces of the first floor rooms we occupied. The hotel staff are young, polite, enthusiastic and very efficient. The welcome you receive puts you immediately at ease and the Cornish way of life takes over and makes the stay even more enjoyable. Hotel décor is chabby chic but comfortable. The food is superb. Breakfast is ample, a choice of cereals, fruit, a full Cornish breakfast or healthier options of fish or the Newlyn Smoked Salmon with eggs. The restaurant was very popular during our stay and the DBB tariff we booked on was very good value. There is an extensive and reasonably priced wine list, I enjoyed a really smooth Bourgogne with my evening meal. There is an extensive array of local real ales and ciders available. This hotel makes an ideal base for exploring the Southern parts of Cornwall. We will wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and plan to return soon.
