“Very decent food”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

Pleasant waitresses, but not professionals. Paper napkins, pine tables, solid water glasses indicate a serviceable approach to dining. The food was actually rather good and we may well return. The early diner menu was rather good and excellent value.

“Unfriendly welcome & limited choice”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

We visited this restaurant which was to be an end of holiday treat early one midweek evening. Admittedly we hadn't booked but on entering there were evidently tables for two available yet the fact that we hadn't made a reservation was greeted with incredulity. We were initially advised to return 'later', but when I asked how much later we were told to return in 15 minutes! Given that there were empty tables this seemed absurd. We were then shown to one of these tables (apparently to wait), while there we overheard that the dishes we fancied were already sold out (it was barely gone 7pm!) so we made our excuses and left. I can't vouch for the food but the total absence of any semblance of customer service from the young waitress who attended to us means that we are most unlikely ever to bother visiting the Cornish Range ever again. By contrast the welcome at the Ship Inn couldn't have been warmer!

“Food good; staff poor”
Reviewed May 6, 2013 via mobile

I feel a little harsh giving 3*; but it wasn't great. The food was nice and we enjoyed our evening but it wasn't great. The staff were a little inexperienced making the evening less relaxing. Sherry instead of port and an excuse made rather than just admitting the error! Good food though but go with low expectations and I think you'll enjoy the food.

“Superb Seafood!”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Wonderful location, nice uncomplicated menu with good choices, love the fact there are two sitting options, early sitting with special menu for families with young children and a slightly more extensive one for the later sitting.
Food and service were fantastic, Newlyn Crab Risotto is a must to try! Wine selection is great as well!
